The annual parade to the cenotaph for the Remembrance Day Service was held on November 11 with a very good attendance of Legion and Ladies Auxiliary members, army cadets, cubs and local repre- sentatives of local organiza- tions, churches, the Town, local schools and businesses, a total of 66 wreaths were laid. Major (Rtd) Frank Golding conducted the ser- vice. The parade was assisted by a piper and drummer from the Brussels Pipe Band. After the parade the Ladies Auxiliary served beef on a bun to the members of Branch 156 and Auxiliary. The presidents and mem- bers of Branch 156 and Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank everyone for their Seaforth Legion 1 by Barbara Scott we participation in this event. Seaforth Public School and St. James Catholic School grades attended. Before the cenotaph 16 members of the Branch and Auxiliary attended the annual Remembrance service at Seaforth District High School. Saturday, November 22 there will be a fish fry at the branch. Celebration held after mass A happy birthday to a very special lady of St. Columban, Frances Melady who is 80 years young today, Nov.I9. On Sunday , November 16 her family held a party for her in St. Patrick's Church Hall in Dublin following the 10:30 a.m. mass. A dinner catered by Carol Satchell of Mitchell was served to the immediate family, relatives and neighbors. On behalf of the family, son Tom Melady, Stereos stolen Crime Stoppers of Huron County says on Oct. 27 sev- eral stereos, speakers and CDs were stolen from cars in the Auburn and Blyth area. A 1990 Ford Aerostar van (licence # 238 SBT) was stolen from Loftus Street in Auburn the same night. Thieves stole stereo equip- ment and speakers from a vehicl a conq' McKillop 'Itownship some time between Sept. 12 and 15. It was parked at a business. Items stolen included Sony cassette (model XR-C700) and CD (model CDX-72) players and two MB quartz speakers. Sometime over the summer, thieves also entered a garage on Joseph Street in Clinton and stole six bows with arrows and targets belonging to the Clinton Boy Scouts. Annual Hortic The annual meeting of the Seaforth & District Horticulture Society was last Wednesday at Northside United church, beginning with a dinner attended by 32 dinners. Eleanor Horst intro- duced the "Master Gardener's in training." They spoke about becoming a mas- ter gardener, then played a game. Members were divided into six teams a wheel was spun and they had to answer questions about that subject for example:compost, house plants, vegetables, trees, and pruning. The team with most points was given a prize. Early Years students stuy colour purple in class recently They sorted and savedthe School News: The Early Year students studied the color purple this week. They made a purple surprise and ate it (grape jelly perogie style sandwich). They made a purple candle with paper tubes and sang about a purple cow and a one -eyed, one - homed flying purple people eater. Thanks to Ken Scott for coming over and teaching the children the last so'hg. The kids also mixed red and blue playdough and watched as it magically turned to pur- ple. The letter c was looked at as well and they made clown faces with purple noses. The Grade 2 class used the cooked pumpkin that was tett over from the Grade l's pumpkin muffins to make Pumpkin Ice Cream dessert. They wanted to surprise the Grade is. In Mrs. Vandendool's class the children are working on "Fall Trek Story Writing". The class has also started reading their new novel called "Island of the Blue Dolphin". Theresa Baan and Shelly McGavin aided her in this venture. They also worked on another craft where they ripped out scenes from cards and then glued them onto wallpaper and then put clear mac -tack over them to make either book marks or placemats. Rev.
