Weekend split Cents pull out of dive The Seaforth Centenaires came out of a five -game los- ing dive by pulling out a 4-3 win against the North Middlesex Stars at Parkhill Saturday night. The night before at Thamesford they ended up on the short end of a 9-5 score against the hometown Trojans. The Cents had another Ontario Hockey Association Junior "D"evelopment League road game at Parkhill last night (Tuesday). after this paper went to press. But Saturday's win against the Stars was important because it puts t lilac thele distknee between Seaforth, currently in fourth place in the Morenz Division, and the fifth -place and cellar -dwelling North Middlesex club. The Cents, now with a 6-10 record, play a pair of games on home ice this weekend. Friday night they host the hottest club in the IDL, the Port Stanley Lakers, with a 15-2 record and leading the Thomas Division. Saturday night they host the Mitchell Hawks. Both games are at 8:30 p.m. MUCH-NEEDED WIN Shortstaffed Seaforth only had 16 skaters but scored all four of its goals in the first period Saturday, and came out of the opening 20 min- utes leading 4-1. Mark Van Dooren scored twice, and Steve Mcinally and Scott Henderson netted the other goals. Two of the four came via the powerplay. Chuck Robertson got the win in net. At Thamesford it was another story. Coach Tom Turner says the Trojans scored on their first four shots, and although Mark Van Dooren got one of them back, Seaforth trailed 5- 1 after the first.
