Legion and Seaforth Council granted approval in principle Tuesday night to a request from Seaforth Branch 156 of Royal Canadian Le n "to build a 20' by 22 deck onto the south wall" of its building "that would extend into the lawn - bowling yard by 13' to 14'." "The deck would be used for outside functions such as barbecues by both the Legion and the lawnbowling club," according to the memorandum to council from clerk/administrator Jim Crocker. The lawnbowl- ing club has no objection to the construction of the deck and is willing to enter into Reps change Carali McCall has replaced Carly Price as stu- dent representative on Seaforth's recreation and parks committee. McCall is a student at Seaforth District High School. Price was, but now goes to university in Toronto. High winds cause problems High winds during a brief storm in Seaforth Sept. 29 blew part of a large tree down onto a passing car on the corner of High and John Streets. It damaged the car's wind- shield and roof, and also crushed the street and stop signs at the southeast corner. The remainder of the tree had to be removed and was too high for the PUC to reach so Public Works superinten- dent John Forrest reported to Seaforth Council last Tuesday night that a compa- ny was contacted to do so. lawn bowlers want to share deck an agreement with the Legion for its construction and shared ttso." This town owns the lawn - bowling property, and the Legion building is about six to seven feet from the unfenced lot line. Council's approval in prin- cipal is subject to: the Huron County planning department being "consult- ed to ensure no planning issues would be compro, the municipal insur- mised, er ensures "there would be no exposure to liability on the town's part," and the Legion "enter into and pay the cost of an encroachment agreement" between Seaforth and the local branch.
