If you're wondering what
'they' are and why they took
su long to get here, you're
not alone.
Kate Teall and Lin Stetlkr

o'opies arrived in early 1996.
So for. the last year. there's
'been legal hassles, delays and
"finally corrections. "We're
;not very happy," said Teal! of
;the problems encountered in
printing one of three of her
father's unpublished menu -
:scripts.
"If it took five years to pub-
lish each of them, we'd be
old ladies." said Teall.
"Older. old ladies." said
Steffier, who has retyped the
;manuscripts into her comput-
er and helped edit. as well as
,design the artwork for the
,covers. "l don't' know if 1'd
'be alive to see ours pub-
'lished." said Steftler, in reler-
yence to a mystery book.

Phail and his son. Paulus.
FINALLY! - Lin Stettler (lett) and Kate Testi are relieved
that corrected copies of Murder is Folly have arrived.
The manuscript is still being
edited.

The earliest unpublished
manuscript by the late author
Scott, who wrote The
Settlement of Huron County,
Ontario Scene and more, is
entitled Feast of Innocence.:ft
was likely written in the
1940s and is set just atter the
turn of the century, says
Teal!. It's described by
Steftler as a "life study of a
small town. a character
story. l
And as tar as editing to be
done. there was virtually
none "It's fantastic.
Outstanding." says Steffler.
It's the next scheduled book
to be published after sales of
,Murder get rolling. The writ-
ing duo wants to regain the
momentum created in '93
after an article on Murder is
Folly in the Expositor created
an interest and many
inquiries from the communi-
ty.

Like Murder is Folly,
which is set in the vary

landmarks in Feast of

Rtt>rieving Lest Seeks
Teal! was aware that -her
father wrote a mystery novel
but after he died in 1979, she
was unable -to locate the
book. When family friend
,Hugh Douglas woke up in
the middle of the night and
reinenlbered .wherethe menu-
acript was hidden in his
garage. 'Tell was off ,to the
races. But she was still
unaware of her father's two
other novels which had been
placed in the National
Archives in Ottawa, until she
received word of them.
'When she found out about
their existence, the only way
to get thein back was -to pho-
tocopy the two books, page
