A young woman from the
Seaforth area sings a song in
Blyth Festival's two-week
revival of Barndance Live!
which opened yesterday.

Seaforth sings a popular tune
from the past by Holly Dunn
called "Daddy's Hands" in

the show. She is 13 -years -
old, the daughter of Bill and
Connie Devereaux , and
Roing into Grade 8 at St.
James School in Seaforth
starting next week.
Although she has never
sung at Blyth before, Laura is
Provincial police report a
citizen who called with a
license number alerted them
to three men in a vehicle that
turned out to have been
stolen in London earlier, after
100 flagstones were taken
from a garden centre just
north of St. Joseph on July
15, and a search of one of the
men revealed hash oil
(cannabis sativa), with an
estimated $4,000 value.
They are all in their mid-
20s and now all also face
charges in Exeter court of
possession of stolen property
over $5,000, and theft under
$5,000. One of them was
charged with possession for
the purpose of trafficking,
and two of them with breach
of probation.

lessons since she was eight,
first with Joan Gaffney of
Mitchell, now deceased, and
since then at the Western
Conservatory at London.

small community, "on the
ocean with a general store
and caravan park," in
Northern Queensland. He
says it is a beautiful country
with many national parks
and mile -long beaches and
it is going to be tough for
them to leave. The
Johnstons are due back
here in late January.
Many posters
entered
A total of 1,009 posters
were entered in this year's
annual pro-life art contest, it
was reported to the June
meeting of Stratford and
District Right to Life.
The organization maintains
"Statistics Canada's 1994
report states abortion is the
leading cause of death in
Canada: abortion, 106,255;
cancer, 57,324; heart disease,
52,540; respiratory disease,
18,342; and, strokc, 15,306."

Devereaux is also a veteran
performer at the annual
Clinton Spring Fair, and
every year since she was nine
has been chosen to advance
and sing at the London Fair.
She was chosen after an
audition to perform at Blyth
this season, where she sang
the Dunn song she will sing
in the show, plus another old
favorite - "Baby, Mine and
Blue."
Several other area acts will
perform, including: Betty
Bee; of Hensall; John Battye
of Blytii, the father -daughter
duos of Ken and Shannon
Scott and Auorey Toll and
Cheryl Cronin, both also of
Blyth; a trio of singers from
Goderich and Clinton,
including Shelly McPhee
Haist, Judy Stewart and
Louise Dockstader; Kira
Stuckey of Wingham; Juanita
Arkell of Auburn; Neil Glen
of Chesley; Harold Smith of
Mildmay; and, Arthur
Warren of St. Marys.
There will also be three dif-
ferent groups of stepdancers,
including Black Magic
(Kennedy Baker and Melissa
Hart of Clinton and Michelle
Bovey and Katie Anne
Vivian of Mitchell), and New
Horizons (Stacey Nicholson,
Kristie Carter and Tracy and
Heather Verhoeve, all of
Mitchell.)
Barndance Live! runs until
Sept. 10.
