WPS students enjoy various field trips. guests
Students, teachers and vol-
unteers had a wonderful time
on the field trip to Lambton
Heritage Museum. The chil-
dren were given treasure
maps and followed the clues
to see what the museum had
to offer. After the tour, grade
3/4 went to Centralia to see
the Blucwater recycling
plant. They were awestruck
by the piles of cans in the
hales and learned there are
10,000 to 11,000 cans in a
bale. The other classes went
on to the Pineridge Zoo
(Grand Bend) where they
enjoyed seeing Ben the
Baboon, llamas, a siberian
,tiger, monkeys and other
interesting creatures.
The kindergarten class had
a guest come to their room on
Tues. morning. Jamie
Mitchell was excited to intro-
duce his grandma Phyllis
Mitchell who brought her fid-
dle and played some tunes
and then a few songs the kids
knew to sing along.
Friday was the annual vol -

• This past Saturday staff
members of SDHS participat-
ed in the annual Slo-Pitch
tournament in Exeter for all
Huron County Board of
Education employees. Our
staff was a force to over-
come, scoring the most runs
of the tournament. John
Clarke's mighty bat con-
tributed to the only defeat
SDHS had that day. GDCI
before exams
took the tournament trophy
home. There's always next
year.
• On Tuesday the school
started the annual "Summer
Olympics" during lunch hour.
The entire school was divid-
ed into teams by the students'
council, and with the assis-
tance of staff, participated in
wild wacky and wonderfully
weird events. With exams on
the horizon, everyone appre-
ciated the fun.
