Following a delicious meal the group was entertained by "Fun and Games" by clowns, Knobby and Cactus. Door prize winner was Idella Hubley and 50-50 draw win- ner was Anna Haney. Happy Birthdays were sung to Bob McLoughlan, Mary McDougall, Ann Valdhuis, and Mary McCall. The next diner's date is May 15. We are looking for- ward to a slide presentation of "Trees of the Area" by Ausable Bayfield Conservation Area forester Steve Harburn. Congratulations to Pam and Steve Shewan on the safe arrival of a darling baby boy, Christopher Steven, born at Stratford General Hospital on April 29. Congratulations also to proud grandparents, Mery and Joyce Shewan and Harvey and Yvonne Hoggart. Congratulations to great grandparents, Marjorie Morrison; and Ethel and Lorne Shewan, and to Grandma Vtetta Roggen, and to Naomi and Harold Pryce. Anniversaries are also a time to celebrate. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Fergus Feeney on their 50th anniversary. They cele- brated on Sat. May 10 by having their vows renewed at a special Mass in St. James Church, Seaforth. Their fami- ly all got together afterwards for a meal and a special get- together. All your many, many friends send their love and best wishes for good years ahead. Heartfelt sympathy of the community is extended to the Stapleton families on the recent death of a former Dublin resident, Dr. Frank Stapleton. President John gave us a very informative report on the Convention he recently attended. Jack Frost from District C is 1st Vice President. The barbecue held May 9 was very successful and enjoyed by the capacity crowd along with the enter- tainment and draws. Gloria Racho won the quarter of beef. Thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make it the success it was. Especially to Tuckers Meat Shop for their donation. The Sunday dinner on May 11 was also a big success. The committee thanks everyone for their help. At the general meeting last Thursday Neil Bell was pre- sented with his 50 year pin and medal by Honors and Awards chairman, Jim Watson. Hospital wants land protected The town's representative on Seaforth's Community Hospital hoard, Mayor Irwin Johnston, told council our local hospital doesn't like necessarily being grouped in a region with Stratford and St. Marys in Huron -Perth District Council planning. Mayor Johnson said the Seaforth hospital board has assets and land it wants pro- tected in any Foundation arrangement, to be negotiated in the restructuring of the hospital system in the two counties.
