Eight from SDHS receive education
Eight people at Seaforth
District High School (SDHS)
received education awards at
the 12 annual "Excellence in
Public Education Awards
Banquet" held recently at the
Goderich Township Hall.
The following are just a few
comments about each award
recipient which appeared in
the program for the banquet:
Jaaon Baan
"Jason is a conscientious
and diligent student who has
managed to maintain an hon-
ours standing each of his four
years at SDHS His pleasant,
considerate psonality is
appreciated by his teachers
and peers."
Christa Bennett
"Christy is an extremely
energetic and conscientious
student. As this year's

the Students' Council, she
has organized and actively

of activities including intra -

life is contagious and she
uses this positive personality
trait to inspire others."
Nick Longstaff
"Students` Councils
through the years have relied
on Nick to supervise activi-

the home room setting. His
concern for others is evident
in his willingness to act as a
peer mentor for three years
Guards fired
Ontario's Ministry of
Correctional Services has
fired three guards at the
Bluewater Youth Centre in
Goderich for inciting a riot
and failing to contain it there
on February 29 in 1996 in the
midst of a strike by provin-
cial civil servants.
Such incidents were alleged
almost immediately after the
incident.
