COACHES GONE
The coaching staff of Dave
Murray, Jim Campbell and
Dave Akey made it official -
none will be back for next
year. The dynamic trio ran
the show for the past two sea-
sons, with a winning percent-
age in the regular season and
playoffs. Only the coaching
tandem of Bob Ward and
Tom Chessell have chalked

Ball continues relative decline
So far, soccer registration in
Seaforth stands at 100, down
by 24 from (996, he said,
adding last year's totals will
probably eventually he

registrations come in.

Hockey honours
The Seaforth and District
Minor Hockey Association
has honoured two Toms as its
coach and trainer of the year.
The coach of the local•ban-
tams last season, Tom Turner,
is coach of the year. The
trainer of the year is Tom
Devereaux, of Seaforth's
intermediate girls team.
BY GREGOR CAMPBELL
Expositor Staff
The popularity of junior
golf and roller hockey with
local young people continues
to leave registrations relative-
ly stagnant or in decline for
other traditional "summer"
sports, Seaforth's recreation
director Marty Bedard told
council Tuesday night.
He said the junior golf "has
really taken off" at the
Seaforth links.
Ball registration for 1997 is
at 170 (with nine travel
teams, three house Teague and
T -ball), compared to 220 in
1996 (1 1 travel teams, four
house league and T -ball) the
recreation director reported.
up a better record in the
team's 23 seasons, from 1984
to 1986, including the team's
only Ontario Hockey
Association championship.
The Cent's made it to the
OHA's final four this season,
losing to eventual champion
Mt. Brydges.
It was the third time in the
past four seasons the Cents
were put pout by the eventual
OHA champ.
The executive also made a
presentation to former gener-
al manager Gregor Campbell,
who retired after seven sea-
sons at the end of the play-
offs.
He said he will miss hockey
but it is "time to get on with
other things in my life."
Increases set
The management commit-
tee of the Seaforth and
District Community Centres
has approved salary increases
for its employees, effective at
the start of 1997. The arena
manager's 'rate increases
$989 to $33,949. One full-
time employee's salary
increased $750 and another's
$2,558, leaving them both at
$25,758 for 1997. One part-
time employee's rate
increased 22v per hour to
$8.82, another's 26(t to $8.86
an hour, and the third's 12V
per hour to $8.12.
