High School participated in
an informative presentation
an the "Titanic" with guest
speaker. author, and enthusi-
ast Steve Santini at the high
school on Thursday. April 10.
Santini offered general
insight into the events that
unfolded on the mysterious
night of April 14, 18.12 when
the Titanic sank after hitting
an iceberg on its fourth night
on route from South
Hampton, England to New
York. The 822 -loot ship hold
2.228 people including Violet
Jessup. who survived her
voyage on the Titanic as well
as both of her sister -ships.
Santini shed light on con-
struction methods, including
where the ship was made.
Handcrafted in Belfast.
Ireland. the "Titanic" was the
largest steam ship at the time
of her creation.
Captain E.J. Smith sailed
the Titanic on its fateful voy-
age and went down with his
ship on the voyage that was
to take him into retirement.

First Choice - Best Choice?
if you happened to read my
'article in the last "Bear Paw"
concerning changing your
answers for multiple choice
questions from wrong to
algae. 637 from right to
wrong. 229. I trust that you
found it informative.'
This data was provided
from a text book currently
being used by my wife, a life-
long learner. for her universi-
ty course. wilt she is taking.
As we disctissed that arti-
cle. she proposed the follow-
ing theory. When we started a
multiple choice test or extern,
we are nervous and unsure of
ourselves. However. if we are
prepared, we -gam ocinfidentee
as we proceed and get "in a
groove". When we review
our answers wheat we are fin-
ished, perhaps we spot the
errors that we made earlier
and can change wrong
answers to the correct ones
by nearly a 3:1 ratio coni -
pared to right to wrong.
Her theory certainly fits
.what we have always been
told: "read the whole exam
over before you start. and
answer that question you
know best first!"
As for as 1 am aware, this
theory has yet to be proved
incorrect!
