A new transformer was
installed on Chalk Street
in 1987 to upgrade from
2000 kva to 5000 kva.
This transtortner, which
supplies the downtown
areae was the olderet of the
two and the most logical
to replace. At $55,0(X) it -
was a costly endeavor. but
was necessary tor the
Utility to keep, tip with any .
sapid growth inthe Town.

itself is -4Q years.

.P.-U.C. manager Tum -

involved in continuous
•maintenance and upgrad-
ing of both transformers
and of lines. "We have to
continue upgrading our
facility to accommodate
current and future
-gruwth." -
Since 1991 the P.U.C.
has been steadily upgrad-
ing the transformer on
Welsh Street from a 2
MVA to a 5 MVA capaci-
ty. When put into service
later this year the unit will
ailuw the Utility to trans-
fer the total load of
Seaforth to either station
and perform maintenance
on the other without
affecting the town. This

there were 293 watomcrs,
