The HurortExpo►sitor's roots can bo►Q,tcxd back over 100 ycan.mkhough some of the facts lappear tither vague. it seems the town's first paper, The Express, was established by C:H. Cull in 1860. Alexander Campbell is shown as publishing The Expositor in 1862, yet 1863 mortis shOw Cull to be the publisherof the The Hurn Express. Up until 1867 little is shown -about The Express, which was published un an irregular basis during this period. In November of that year Messrs. Penton ▪ and Colbourne established The Expositor on the faun- dation.of The Express. with George W. Moss and W.F. Luxton assuming the position of publishers. Brothers M.Y. and Alan McLean purchased the paper in 1870 and changed . the name to The Huron Expositor. In.1872 Alan McLean retired for health reason&aad M.Y. i:unun- artd alone. When he died in 1916 his son,Keith M. McL ean:became editor and retained this position until his death in 1948. The management of The Huron Expositor remained a family business sir►eedtrm► position was lilted by his sun, Andrew Y. McLean. in 1972 McLean Bros. Publishers Lid. purchased The.Eirussets Post. and in 1975 Andrew's daughter -Susan White became the fourth generation of Mt.Leans to publish the' paper in Seaforth. In 1978 McLeans purchased The Blyth Standard. In July 1982 Signal Star - Publishing Limited pur- chased The Hurn Expositor along .with -sister papers, The Brussels Post and The Blyth Standard. live years later The Expositor, as pari of the Signal Star Chain, bectttne pari of St. Catherines Standard Liinited. Editor David Scott who worked as a reporter for The Expositor in 1992-93 before leaving this paper to work as a reporter in Zurich and Goderich. Dave has a degree in applied radio and televi- sion arts from Ryerson and graduated with highest honours from a corespon- dent journaliam course at ICS. Scott has a play of his running at the Blyth Festival this summer called "There's Nothing,in the Paper." Office Manager is Pat Armes. She joined the staff at The Expositor in 1974, working one.daya week in subscriptions. From there she .went onto -proofreading thrce'days a week. When the produc- tion of the paper was moved to Goderich in 1987, taking her proof- reading job with it, Pat became the full-time front office manager. _ Reporter Gregor "Your Community Newspaper Since 1860" Campbell lust worked for The Expositor in 1981 for approximately.a year. He left to centore other options but returned in 1994 and has been with the paper ever since. Gregor graduated from . The University of Western Ontario in 1975 .with an Honours Bachloor •ot Ails in Journalism. He is a self-taught photographer who acquired valuable knowledge appren- tieing for local photogra- pher Frank -Phillips, as well -es taking -photogra- phy courses at-Fanshawe. iabeeriptianshed t3ltads are handled by Dianne McGrath. who started in the -position of typesetter .with The Huron Expositor in 1973 while still a student. She contin- ued with the paper after graduittiun.but quit .in - 1987 when the production department moved to Goderich Dianne returned. as permanent part-time staff in September of the same year and continues to work two days a week. Advertising Sales son Kevin Canino graduate ofSeat District High the -Advertising Program at Georgian College in Barrie. Kevin started with The Expositor in Febtuaty of this year and gently works in advertising three days a week.
