The Manor, located at
100 James Street in
Seaforth, hat been
extremely fortunate to
have so much support
from .the community.
Many musical groups and
individuals, church -volun-
teers and clergy,palliative
care volunteers and ser-
vice clubs give of them-
selves regularly to help

life for residents. The
home is grateful to the
100+ volunteers who
donate their time through-
out the year.
Committed to retuming
support to the community
in as many ways as possi-
ble, the rtatirement home
has•made space available
free of charge for commu-
nity groups. Currently
only a few groups make
use of the space but other
groups are encouraged to
take advantage of this.
Anyone needing a place to
meet is.invited to call the
Manor and make arrange-
ments.
Seaforth Manor is also
committed to giving sit'
dents the opportunity to
-learn and grow through
Co-operative Education
programs. Students•havc
found successful place-
ments in the Retirement 4.
Home, the Dietary depart-
ment and the Ntirsing
depanment. "We're proud
of the fact that anumber
of these students have
been hired after finishing
their placements with us,"
says adminstrator Ruth
Hildebrand.
The Retirement Home
offers a short stay program
which is intended to sup-
port independent living,
and to help people who
may need some additional
care after being hospital-
ized. A number of people
may not need to stay in
hospital yet do not feel
strong enough to go home.
-The home is able to pro-
vide the accomodations,
meals, housekeeping,
laundry services, and the
support needed until they
are strong enough to go
home. Likewise the short
stay program offers vaca-

residents, having adopted
a "Continuous Quality
Improvement" philosophy
that strives to ensure all
residents and their families
air satisfied..
"Some of the comments
remived are that the stat$
are all so friendly and
courteous. and treat out
parents hkc they are pan
of a big. happy family,"
Ruth is happy teropon.
"We also hear things Tike
families are more than
pleased with the cleanli-
ness of the home and the
way it is decorated, mak-
ing it a very cheerful place
to live and visit. Also that
the staff are.friendly and
caring, providing out-
standing support and care
above and beyond, and the
meals are wonderful."
Scaforth Manor has been
rewarded for its excellence
by receiving three year
accreditation awards,
including one under the
new "Client -Centered
Accreditation Program "
Ruth says in closing,

the challenges of the
future and 'integrate with
the community."

Program in the Home
allows you to have the
freedom from worries of
home maintenance
throughout the winter and
return home in the spring."
Ruth adds.
Seaforth Manor is ideal
for couples who have
varying care needs. Two
people can live under the
same•roof even though
their -needs -may .vary
greatly. There are a num-
her of couples where the
more independant spouse
lives in the Retirement
Home and the partner with
more demanding care
needs resides in the
Nursing Home. They are
able to see each other
whenever they want. It

families, allowing them to
visit with both parties at
the same time.
"We have a complimen-
tary outreach program
which invites community
seniors to come for activi-
ties and a meal, and then
stay for any of the special -
events we offer," invites
Ruth. Transportation will
be provided, so if you are
a community senior and
would like an afternoon or
evening of fun and social-
ization, which is so impor-
tant in maintaining one's
health, just call. If you
have special dietary needs
we offer two choices at
every meal so don't let
that stop you from joining
in the hull"
Seaford' Manor is also

continuous educational
opportunities to its staff so
they will he better able to
continue providing -ser-
vices in a professional
