always in the green!
Where else would the
owner and operator of
"The Lawn Master", R.R
2, Seaforth be?
Paul opened the business
in October of 1986 to pro-
vide landscape design,
construction and mainte-
nance services to residen-
tial, agricultural and com-
mercial customers. The
supply of trees and land-
scape nursery stock has
grown to be a major part
of The Lawn Master ser-
vices.
"Our agricultural focus
is on windbreaks, shelter -
belts, woodlot enhance-
ment„" with an on-site
nursery to ensure that any
request can be met.
An important component
of the business is the
design and installation
aspect. They offer
detailed, individualized
landscape designs to suit
the specific needs of each
customer, from the smaller
installation and mainte-
nance jobs to large, full-
scale residential and com-
mercial designs.
The Lawn Master sea-
sonally employs over 30
local students from high
schools, colleges and uni-
versities to assist in the
care and maintenance of
their unique and special-
ized trees, shrubs, and
perennials, as well as aid-
ing in the sodding, seeding
and hydro seeding. Many
of these students return
each year until their edu-
cation is complete. Paul
also employs non -student
seasonal employees.
The Lawn Master enjoys
being "Community Based
and Community
Supported."

SDHS has grown to meet changes of time
its very beginnings,
Seaforth students achieved
highest honors at universi-
ties in the province.
Recent graduates have
continued in this tradition
by distinguishing them-
selves in a wide range of
academic pursuits.
Student athletes have
brought honor to the
school at the regional and
provincial levels.
Seaforth is the small
school with a big heart and
a bigger reputation for
success. Present programs
have been developed for
students of all abilities and
interests. Cooperative
education work experi-
ences provide the relevant
links between school work
and the work world. New
programs will meet the
needs of adults wishing to
retrain.and re-enter the job
market, and the needs of
young people who left
school with a diploma and
who wish to return for a
second opportunity in an
environment specially
structured for their suc-
cess.
Seaforth District High
School has grown a lot
from its four -room begin-
ning in 1878. Science labs
and a gym were added in
1887, and in 1939 another
addition was completed.
This expansion offered
improved facilities for
shop work, home econom-
ics, music, agriculture, and
included an indoor gym
complete with a stage and
showers.
By 1954 the time had
come for further expan-
sion. This included a
gymnasium and adminis-
trative offices. In 1960, a
cafeteria and science and
commercial labs were
built. In the late '60's the
original building was torn
down to make room for a
further expansion. The
final result is the school as
it now exists.
Seaforth District High
School is a leader in the
implementation of com-
puters into the school cur-
riculum, and the computer
facilities at SDHS are the
envy of most schools in
the province. SDHS has
some very state-of-the-art
computer equipment, and
at the moment there are
two teachers working with
a small group of dedicated
students writing and pro-
ducing a senior history
course which will be avail-
able on CD-ROM.
The present regular day
school has a population of
about 350 students, with
25 teachers and a support
staff of 11. In addition,
there are over 60 students
registered in the continu-
ing education program for
adults at the Town Hall
where there is a staff of
two teachers. Bruce
Eccles is Principal; Vice -
Principal is David Yates.
Student success at all
grade levels is the hall-
mark of SDHS. The pass
rates for each grade and
percentage of students
who complete their
schooling and receive a
diploma are well above the
provincial average.
Seaforth District High
School has had a long and
rich history of academic
and athletic success. From
