The SCH is.sut.accredit- ed4l bed (30 acute, I 1 chronic) acute care hoapi- tal.which provides the nor- mal range of services for a small community hospital located in.a rural setting. These include.mcdical, surgical, obstetrics. emer- gency,and chronic care services; and a compre- hensive array of outpatient services. Outpatient ser- vices include a number of specialty medical clinics and other services such as . physiotherapy. occupation- al therapy and diabetic and nutritional counselling. As well the hospital pro- vides laboratory and radi- ology services. The hospital is•governed by a 19 -member Board of Directors comprised of SEAFORTH CDmAUN1T1Vr 44:08PWAL is an acatatittad 41 bed acute care hospital which provides a range of services inoluding medical, surgical, obstetrics, emergency and chronic care services. The -hospital and clinic have been successful in recruiting new doctors. elected and appointed members from the com- munity and surrounding townships. Seaforth Community Hospital has an Active Medical Staff of eight physicians with over thirty others. mainly spe- cialists, having Courtesy/Consulting •privi- leges. It employs.approxi- mately 100 staff members, making the hospital one of the largest employers in the area. Over the: past three years our hospital has realized a number of significant accomplishments. These include the introduction of midwifery services and the continued growth m the Obstetrics program: the construction of a medical heliport; the establishment of the -Total Quality IXiartagementprogram;.cud the initiation ofa Fire Department Dispatch ser- vice which now includes nine -Huron County Fire Departments. In ,coopera- tion with the Seaforth Medical Clinic.theyhave been very successful in attracting a number of new physicians to the cotmnu- nity. These achievements have been realized in spite of the significant funding reductions from the provincial government over the past years. At the present time. the Seaforth.Huspital is involved in the hospital and related health services study being conducted by the Huron/Perth District Health Council. The role of SCH in the proposed system would he to pro- vide the following ser- vices: 24 hour emergency; acute and chronic inpatient (medical Meds); Obstetrics and'Midwifery, and a vari- ety of outpatient services and specialty medical clin- ics. In addition, SCH would be designated to develop and provide a regional chronic care or geriatrics program for Huron and Perth residents "The Seaforth Community Hospital and the Seaforth Medical Clinic will continue to provide our residents with quality service as we move into the next millennium.
