pionships in Waterloo last
Wednesday.
Lindsey Kumni fired a hat
trick, and Emily Ratcliffe
added another pair of goals.

Valley 7-1 in the noon -hour
final of the four-day Ontario
tournament.
Seaforth won all seven
games last week at Waterloo
but insisted on doing it the
difficult way. They came
from behind in all Give final

twice, and Waterloo, Thunder
Bay. -Pickering, Waterloo,
West Ferris (North ,Bay) and
Hamilton to win the provin-
cial gold.

It was a wild one, that
earned. them the "comeback
kids" label, and the key to
the championship according
to their coach.
Seaforth trailed 5-2 at the
•half, then 6-2 early in the sec-
ond. Things,proceetled toilet
interesting. Hamilton led
until the.end, and the ,score
went 6-3, 6-4 744, 7.5, 7-6,
7-7 to the horn.

resist rubbing it in.

Because Seaforth stormed
back with a vengeance.
Kim Devereaux scored the
winner for the young local
women two minutes into
overtime to win it 12-11. The
comeback:kept Caledonia
from further play, allowing
'Kendra to advance to the
medal round, where they won
Ibe gold medal.

Caledonia and Kenora.betles
in the elite i‘. .division .with
three _wins and three losses in
the prelitninaries,-but was rel-
egated to fourth place on. the
•basis of their plus-minus.
record.

She adds '?this team, com-
prised of 14 ;to I8 -year-olds
was the youngest.tcatn;to•ppr-
ticipate in the !Ontario
Championship Belle division.
Most teams at -this level are
comprised of predominately
17 and 18-year-olds. The
Seaforth team had two -play-
-ers aged 14. nine 16 -year-
olds, two 17-year-olds, and
two 18 -year-old_ players.
"All will be able to come
back next year and it is hoped
that all players will -return .to
challenge for the provincial
title once again in '98."

Southwestern -Central
Ontario during the tourna-
ment," O'Reilly says. "We
beat the team (Woolwioli)
that ultimately -forced us to
apply for the •wild card -entry
by a score -of 3-2. We also

-It was the -best belle teams
from the forth and east in the
province that gave -Seaforth
trouble. Eventual gold -medal
winners, Kenora-Keewatin
beat .them 9-4. North Bay
nudged them 6-5 ..apd
.Pembroke bested them 10.4,
for their three.losses.

Carnochan says his, charges
finished first in Huron -Perth,
have played .about 80 "games
all told this season, and seem
their best in tournaments.
They had entered four before
last week's big one, winning
their own tourney (the mid-
February provincial district.
qualifier in Seaforth) but fin
ishing second to "double A"
teams from Exeter. London
and Waterloo- in the other
three.
A couple of his players said
they "were sick of silver" on
their way to the _golds at
Waterloo. •
The host team at the
Provincials .was the only one
Seaforth had seen so far this
season.
. LOOKING GOOD
The champs have all but
two players going'up a divi-
sion next season. The petite
age levet is healthy here. with
28 girls registered on two
teams in Seaforth this year.
Ratcliffe had 15 points at
the tournament,. from 12
goals and •three assists.
Nicole •Kistner had five goals
and eight assists. Finlayson SEAFO
fired seven goals and helped
