DEATHS Oat*:BENJAMINS, Oaa: Mrs. Gee* Benjanune of 162 Quebec St Mitchell passed away at the Palliative Care Unit of Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, March 6, 1997 in her 94th year Born in Baden, Holland on October 10, 1903, she was the former Geesje Van der Steen, a daughter ot the late Jan Van der Steen and the former Staley Okken On September 18. 1926, she was married to Jan Benjamin who predeceased her on October 24, 1995 The couple cane to Canada front Holland w 1952 and resided rn Sebringvilkr and lawin Seaforth They farmed in ENioe Township until their retirement to Mitchell in 1972. She was a member of Bethel Free Reformed Church at Munro and the Women's Society of the Church. She is survived by five daughters Janie/Schepers and her husband Honk. Attlee Vos, all in Holland. Jantina Zomer of Beachvillo, Joan Lubbers and her husband Bert of Seaforth and Alice Lubbers of Wallaceburg, one son Gerrit Benjamin of Pembroke. a daughter-in-law Grace Benjamins of Mitchell, forty grandchildren and ninety-nine great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Lammio and brother Johannes, both in Holland. Besides her husband. she was predeceased by two sons Jan Bonjamurs (1959), Evert Benjamins (1971), a granddaughter (1951), a grandson (1993), three sons-in-law Jan Vos, Rex Zomer and Peter Lubbers. tour brothers Gerrit, Pieter, Aaldert and Lambertus and by two sisters Aaltje and Tryntje. Spring interment in Knox Presbyterian Cemetery, Mitchell. 42-1lxlcc rt PEPPER, Joy: Mrs. Joy Pepper. a resident of the Mitchell Nursing Hoe; Mitchell passed away at the Stratford General Hospital on Saturday, March 8, 1997 in her 82nd year. Born in Hibbert Township on April 29, 1916, she was the former Mildred Joy Kemp, a daughter of the late George Kemp and the former Emily Potter. On July 30, 1938 she was married to 'Minn Balfour Pepper who predeceased her on August 28, 1993. Following their marriage, the couple farmed at Lot 31, Concession 1 of Logan Township until their retirement to Mitchell in 1989. Mrs. Popper had been an active member of Zion United Church and a present member of Main St. United Church. Mitchell and the U.C.W. of the Church. She is survived by two sons Wayne Pepper and his wife Carolyn of Regina, Saskatchewan and Grant Pepper of Thunder Bay, five grandchildren Karmyn Carpenter, Stephen. Jeanette. Cameron and Alana Pepper and by one great grandson Dakota. Also surviving is a brother-in-law Morley Lannin of R.R. 5, Mitchell and a number of nieces and' nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters Glenna Joyce Pepper and Gloria Ann Carpenter. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by four brothers Franklin and his wife Margaret, Cecil and his wife Carrie, John and his wife Gladys and Clifford and his wife Leona and by three sisters Beatrice Patterson and her husband Tom, Eva Williams and her husband Franklin and Frances Lannin. March 6 • KNIGHTS 0 WINTHROP 2 The Knights just couldn't seem to buy a goal as they had ample chances but noth- ing was profitable. Maybe next year. However, Winthrop is on a roll with another win and goals were scored by the same folks on Wednesday night. Those doing the honors were Scott Leonhardt and Brett Lee. Can you imagine Brett Lee scores two goals, what a way to end the season. Plenty of help came from Mike Boven, Dan Hoggart. Steve Knight and mighty Joe Ryan. ROYALS 3 CYCLONES 1 Cyclones were lucky to nab this goal. They got robbed on plenty of others. It was scored by Bobsylvins Willy and Adam O'Neil. Great team work. Is this the real Royals team? They couldn't do anything wrong, every- thing went their way. Awesome goals were scored by Jim Butaon, Chris Talbot, and Gord Mills with lots of help from Keith Innes And Cbuck Mills. PARR LINE 0 HITMEN 1 Parr Line goalie Roy Fisher made numerous saves but unfortunately one squeezed by him. Credit goes to Hitmen hot dog Jasen Phelan, who has been trying all sea- son to get his name in the paper and finally succeeds, but a lot of help came from (hair pie) Mr. Hugill and Wonder Boy or Shivers, Mr. S.
