Julie knows me too well. She hands me several neat lists, . relatives whose last names we can't spell and addresses we don't know, hotels we should call to get rates for our out-of-town guests. "And you call Sergio (the best man) and get tuxedo shopping, 1 mean it!" She has the patience of Job, this woman. "Otherwise you'll just have to go without him. But bring somebody with some fashion sense. Like my mother." I'm a bad dresser and highly disorganized in her eyes. It's a wonder she's marrying me at all. Of course, she's superwoman. The wedding isn't until the end of August and she has already bought her dress, picked out her bridesmaids' eggplant -coloured coverings, hired the photographer, booked the church, arranged the reception and set up an interview with the minister. My mind wanders. 1 imagine we're in the minister's office. He asks, "Have you discussed how many children you'd like to have?" "Sixteen," 1 say. "Two," she says emphatically. "Paul, be serious." "Eight girls and eight boys," I insist. Julie pokes me in the ribs and •••• ••••••••• ••••••• • • • • • • ,• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • r• • 0114. i'. ♦• •••••• ••••••••••••• • • • • • • • • • • • •• • • • • • • • • • •• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •• • • • • • But what if I don't want fancy china or crystal? Bradshaws got to be I00 years old by remain- ing vital - by being aware of changing lifestyles and adapting to them. We know that many peo- ple now entertain and live more casually. You might fall in lone with a set of pottery pasta plates to mix with your hand-me-down china. You may lean toward stainless flatware with clean, smooth lines. Maybe you are more inter- ested in properly equipping your kitchen - a room that you and your partner will spend a lot of time in. Perhaps you have the perfect spot for a certain glass bowl - but not ten of then An hour or so spent at Bradshaws will let you choose some special things that work for you. In the process you will make life easier for your guests who want so much to please you. You change, we change, but our care and concern remain constant. Please Visit. "Are you listening to me?" When are you going to call Segio?" Uh-oh. Sergio is in the process of moving and he just got a promotion. We probably won't be able to pick out the tuxedos for months. "And Lawrence," Julie says, "has he sent you his measurements from Australia?" I imagine Lawrence in a tuxedo five sizes too big for him, the sleeves drooping down and hiding his hands. I told him weeks ago to a -nail his measurements. A plan of action, that's what 1 need. Maybe I could make myself a wedding folder like Julie and keep all of my stuff in one place instead of scattered across my desk/ coffee table/kitchen counter/stereo unit. Or perhaps reading is the key. My bride-to-be has scrutinized a dozen bridal magazines and found plenty of helpful hints on preparatiomfor TBD (The Big Day). I mostly flip through the mags pointing at models in sultry dresses and saying "hope your's is like this one, honey?" Where will my friends stay (my house will be overrun by relatives)? Where will we hold the rehearsal party? Should I beg my MC not to mention that embarassing thing I did in Montreal five years ago? Should we make our own invitations or buy them? Continued on next page Paul Ciufo of Grand Bend and Julie Pugh of Clinton will be married this summer. They -offer some thoughts on the amount of planning and pre -wedding preparations required. 1 Beautiful Beginnings For Your Home PIus March Flooring Specials .r> ■ CARPET & VINYL FLOORING ■ BRUCE HARDWOOD • CERAMIC TILES III BENJAMIN MOORE PAINTS • WALLPAPER ■ HUNTER DOUGLAS BLINDS ■ LEVOLOR BLINDS All Available At Grand Bend Decorating & Flooring Centre Highway *21 2 Locations to Selye You Highway #21 Grand BendWe Service & Install What We Sell forest 519-238-8603 519.766-6761 {r4 Your Bridal Headquarters Searching for those special wedding pieces?
