Rrgh school students Diners enjoy dinner busy befon big break • Tuesday, Dec. 17 was Spirit Day at SDHS in honor of the senior girls volleyball team's only home game of the season. Students were :dismissed at 2 to roar with :the Bears against Chilton, but unfortunately the girls were . defeated 2 out of 3,sets. • In celebration of the Christmas season the Students' Council held a door .decorating . competition .against the homerooms. `Congratulations to -Mr. 'Sherwood's 11A who won sere contest. • The Angel Tree campaign was -a great success because of the overwhelming gen- erosity of the student Body. It was Mr. Parr's 12C who brought in -the most canned goods, clothing and toys. 'They celebrated their accom- plishment with a pizza party on the students' council. • The "12 days of _ Christmas" at SDHS was a new event: items from the Bear Den were raffled off each day for twelve days. • With the spirit of giving in the air.- students were able to give their friends a little something special from a secret Santa. :New pounds big 0 oblem in New Year Happy New Year everyone! Did all of you have a won- derful Christmas?.Did every- one. gain a few pounds over Christmas? Some of us did. Now the next thing to do is to lose it. On Dec. 4, Henrietta Brown played the piano and sang for us. She.has a beautiful voice It was very much enjoyed. Our family -Christmas dins ncr was on Dec_ . 5. We all - enjoyed a lovely meal. Thank you to• everyone that helped . out that evening.. Louise Dockstader entertained us en the piano prior to dining. Our baking club made some . delicious shortbread cookies Dec. -12. They were so good that they did not last long. We've enjoyed listening .to a variety of Christmas ,records and- tapes in December. We also -sang many Christmas carols. There are many lovely voices here at the retirement home. On Dec. 15, we had a very busy day. To start off we had alovely brunch cooked by Amy Harmon and her moth- er. --We had fresh cooked bacon, eggs and toast. It was delicious. In the evening some of our residents enjoyed the annual tour of lights. This was spon- sored by the Seaforth Lioness Club. Many Christmas programs • Resident's enjoyed many wonderful Christmas pro- grams this season. The "Family Christmas Banquet" . was a gala event followed by Christmas music provided by Bill Gibson. The Lions Club brought the junior choir from Northside United Church to entertain everyone. Jane Kuepfcr delivered .the Christmas message. The Lawrence Welk Family Christmas Show was enjoyed, as well as two wonderful old classics. "The Bells of St. Marys" and.
