Cents win squeaker to deep -6 Irish
Seaforth's Centenaires
cuffed the Irish 6 with their
sixth -straight loss with an
important 4-3 win at Lucan
Wednesday night.
The two Ontario Hockey
Association Junior "D"evel-
opment League teams played
again Sunday night in
Seaforth, but this paper went
to press before then.
Wednesday's earnest win
gives the local juniors a leg
up on their next crucial fort-
night. Exeter is well out in
front of the closest Morenz
Division race in years, but
you could throw a blanket
over the other four con-
tenders for only three playoff
spots, all of whom are play-
ing .500 or better hockey.
No better time then for a
neighbourly home -and -home
for the holidays between two
of these, and jolly old foes to.
Old Redmen return
The Clinton Central Huron
Secondary School hockey
team that made it to the
Ontario semi-finals 1993 is
playing a reunion game
against this season's Redmen
squad this Saturday (Dec. 28)

Jeff McGregor, the team's
goalie now and a backup on
that WOSSA championship
of several seasons ago, says
SECO&
HOCKEY
all brit three of the 18 former
Redmen have agreed to play
in the fund-raising exhibition.
Special honorary coach of
these "oldtimers" is Bill
Counter, who played for the
Clinton high school team
when it won WOSSA 55
years ago.
Bill Weber of Egmondville
remains coach of the
Rcdmen.

Early deadline
Because of this edition's early
Friday deadline, because
Christmas is on a Wednesday,
the day we usually come out,
most of this week's games
hadn't been played when the
paper went to bed. These
results, if submitted, will be
carried in next week's paper.

ning at 8:35, then back in

Sunday at 8:30 in the
evening.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
At press time the Cents
were one point up in the
standings, but the Hawks had
two games in hand, two
fewer losses and the edge in
head-to-head encounters so
far this season. The two
teams tied 2-2 in Mitchell
and the Hawks won 3-1 in
Seaforth the last time they
played, a month ago.
The first weekend in
January the Centenaires play
three in 42 hours, two on the
road.
Brent Hulley and Steve
Mclnally drilled goals with
good shots to give the Cents
a 2-0 lead after the first peri-
od last Wednesday. It was 3-2
Seaforth after two. Greg
Matthison got Seaforth's
third goal, on the powerplay,
after a deft feed from Steve
Geiger.
Geiger's zinger from the
point made it 4-2 in the third,
before the Irish pulled to
within one again, on the pow-
erplay with 4:09 left in the
game.
Charles Robertson recorded
the much-needed win in net,
facing 23 shots. The Cents
had 31.
Seaforth squads start Silver Sticks soon
Three minor hockey teams peewees at Watford this
from Seaforth are in Silver
Stick qualifying tournaments

novices are at Kincardine and
