Mitchell. D Laser show a big dud The annual Festival of Lights in Goderich was a bit of a $5,000 dud the final Friday in November. Kather than traditional tire - works on the local Square, this year's event was put on by a Toronto-based perfor- mance company and billed as a high-priced, much -praised laser show supposed to light up the sky for 40 minutes. An estimated crowd of 3,000 waiting in anticipation stood dumfounded as the show "turned out to be little more than a few beams of light reflecting off a few mir- rors to make smudged designs on a few buildings," as described by the Goderich Signal -Star:. "Before long, the kids were bored and the crowd started to drift away." Festival of Lights coordina- tor Gerry Hilgendorf says he was "mortified" and the whole things has left orga- nizers in a "bad light". A Laser Lite FX account executive said as far her com- pany is concerned it "deliv- ered exactly what the con- tract said they would deliv- er." M.C.L. SOUND • FULL D.J.
