TYKES TOPS- Seaforth's
tykes skated their hearts out
for local hockey tans in an
exhibition between periods
at the junior game at the
arena Sunday afternoon.
Afterwards the Centenaires,
who could learn a thing or
two about hustle and desire
from their smaller counter-
parts, gave them 'high
fives."

Goalie goes AWOL
Cents don't have what it takes
The Ccntenaires played like
a bowl of dead goldfish on
the weekend. it was not nice
to kx;k at.
They lost twice. On Sunday
afternoon the Exeter Hawks
made them look silly in
Seaforth. The score .was 7-2.
The night before in Belmont
against the Bombers, the
worst team in the West
'Conference: the Cents were
even worscr (this does not
qualify for a loon). They
wasted a gutsy, late two -goal
Comeback by then getting
sloppy beyond belief in their
own end. So then they
coughed up two goals in
quick succession in• the last
two and half minutes of the
game and lost, going away. 7-
5.
Half the team wasn't there
this weekend. Some players
had good reasons, some were
off partying and others just
played like this was the origi-
nal `Teddy Bear's picnic."
in any case, there were few
highlights. -
The Cents are now two
points out of last place in the
OHA Junior "D"evelopment
league's Morenz Division,
but the team now there, the
North Middlesex Stars, has
four games in hand. •
The Seaforth juniors
haven't missed the playoffs
in seven seasons, since 1989-
90. But right now they are
one game above .500, with
more losses. than anybody in
their division, where they
have a pitiful record -and play
their next six games.
Luckily Lucan is playing
just as lousy as the locals
lately, losing five in a row.
The Irish have a game in
hand on Seaforth. The old
foes are tied for fourth in the

For fans who paid good
money and left Sunday night
starved for some basic old
tyme hockey, wondering if
some of these guys know
what a bodycbeck is,'this
weekend's Cents' highlight
was the exhibition tyke
engagement between the first
and second periods in
Seaforth, featuring thrills and
spills, a•couple of enthusias-
tic end-to-end rushes and a
refreshing lack of local prima
donnas.

But then the Bombers
scored on the next play. and
did it again with 59 seconds
left to rub salt in• it.

handed goals Sunday and led
5-1 after two. It was 1-1 after
the first. By the middle of the
third period Seaforth's

into -each other. •
