The Centre will close February 28 if no other plan is put into place. There will be a community information meeting to discuss possibilities for community ownership to be held on Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at 7 pm at the Women's Resource Centre. All interested persons are invited to attend. PHOTOS BY DAVID EMSLIE THREE AWARDS - Robert Vanden Hoven of RR 4 Seaforth was the recipient of three awards at the annual Huron County 4-H awards ceremony held recently in Clinton. Robert is shown here receiving the Huron County Pork Producers' Award from Bruce Bergsma of the Huron Pork Producers. It's presented to the member obtaining the highest score in the 4-H Swine Club. He also won the Ed Watson Award for the Champion 4-H Market Pig at the Seaforth Fall Fair. Don Dodds, leader of the Central Huron Swine Club, presented the award on behalf of Ed Watson. Robert also won the National Trust Award for Champion 4- H Swine Showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair. Brenda Teichert made the presentation. CIBC AWARD - Janet Vanden Hoven of RR 4 Seaforth was presented with the CIBC award by Deb Brindley. The prize is donated by the Brussels and Seaforth branches for the top judge at the Huron County 4-5 Judging Competition. Thirteen Brucefield heifers. sold at Brussels The sales at Brussels Livestock for the week end ing Dec. 1.3. 1996. Fed cattle 495; cows 420; veal calves 397; lambs and goats 341; stockers 1306. The fed steers and heifers sold steady with the cows selling $2.00-$3.00 lower. Vzal sold $2.00 lower with new crop Iambs selling •sharply higher., Stockers were strong on Friday. There were 274 steers on offer selling from 88.00 to 92.01) to the high of 98.00. There were 204 heifers on offer selling from 88.00 to 92.00 to the high of 97.50. Thirteen heifers consigned by Gerald Rathwell, Brucefield averaging 1172 Ihs. sold for an average of 84.56 with sales to 84.83. Two heifers consigned by David Bowles. Brussels aver- aging 1202 Ihs. sold for an average of 89.41 with sales to 90.00. There were 420 cows on offer selling from 28.00 to 53.00 to the high of 70.00. There were 16 hulls on offer selling from 36.00 to 45.50 with sales to 54.00. There were 397 veal calves on offer selling plain hol: 50.00 to 75.00; hol: 75.00 to 95.00; beef: 80.00 to 1 12.00. Seven veal calves con- signed by John Verhurg, Londeshoro, averaging 665 Ihs. sold for an average of 96.01 with sales to 109.00. Lambs: under 50 Ihs 220.00 to 400.00; 50 to 80 Ihs. . 120.00 to 265.00; 80 to 95 lbs. 125.00 to 145.00; over 95 lbs. 92.50 to 135.00. Sheep: 30.00 to 70.00. Every effort will be made to relocate our 16 employees currently located at the Seaforth store to the new Goderich Canadian Tire Associate Store.
