Over 130 children enjoy concert
Last Saturday a capacity
crowd enjoyed the turkey
draws and entertainment at
• Branch 156. Thanks to every-
one who helped to make this
event the huge success it was.
Sunday afternoon the 44th
annual Christmas concert was
held with over 130 children
present. along with parents
and grandparents. The hi!-
' lowing children participated:
Connor and Kallen Devereaux
sang; Jessica and Matthew
Dcltng. stepdancing; Robin
Doig. sang; Carly Scott.
piano; Melissa Hart and
Kennedy Bake. stepdancing;
Seaforth
Legion

Sean Kenny, sang; Jill Scott,
piano; Matthew DeJong
played the violin; Audrey
Chambers sang; Hilary
Burgess, piano; Larissa Popp
sang and Adam Elliott sang.
Thanks to Mary Doig who
assisted the children with a
sing song until Santa Claus
arrived to give each of the
children a hag of candy, nuts,
an apple and an orange.
Coffee and cookies were
served to the parents. Thanks
to Jackie Racho and Barbara
Cook for your help with this.
Also to everyone, who partici-
pated in the concert.
There are still a number of
tickets available for the New
Year's Eve dinner and dance.'
Please get yours as soon as
possible.
Wed. Dec. 18 there will be
stag euchre with turkey
prizes and also a turkey raf-
fle. Come out and support
this event.
Saturday, January 11 there
will be meat draws. horse
races and entertainment.

Hensall Legion met on Dec.
11. Poppy chairman Larry
Uyl gave his report on a.very
successful campaign. A total
of $2216 was realized. The
Brandi extends a sincere
"thank you". to all who assist-
ed with the door -to -denier can-
vas, the business people of
Zurich:. Hensall. and the
north end of Exeter (north of
the lights). the schools of
Zurich. Hensall and

A motion -was passed to
make -donations of $25 to the
Huron Adult Day Centre and
the Palliative Care Program.

Solo begins in the new year.
The first night of a 10 week.
series begins Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.

At Hensall United Church,
Rev. Henry Annen's message
was "Be Joyful". Rev. Henry
voiced his thanks for the
assistance he had•received
the past week. Jerry Traquair
and Raye Jacohc were the
ushers with Cecil Pepper
looking after the elevator.
John and Veronica Thomson
and family lit the third
Advent candle. A social hour
was enjoyed after the service.

On Jan. 19, the Branch will
host a Sunday dinner for the
public.
Recently Branch 156 pre-
sented to local schools a
Drug Safety Book. These
books are very informative
on the subject of drug safety,
covering all forms from ciga-
renes to drugs and alcohol
and telling the children of
the choices open to -them.
This book was sponsored by
Branch I56 with other spon-
sors from Seaforth.
At the going down of the
sun and in the morning we
will remember them.
W.I. holds potluck
Seaforth Women's Institute
held their Christmas meeting
with a potluck supper at 6
p.m. at the Northside United
Church.
Everyone joined in singing
Christmas carols. Betty
Hulley gave a reading and a
skit was performed by Helen
MacKenzie and Jean Keys.
Euchre was played with
prizes to high lady, Beulah
McKay, low lady, Clarissa
Stewart, high man, Jack
Carter, !ow man, Tom
Murray, travelling lone hand,
Eva McCartney and Florence
Carter.. A short meeting fol-
lowed. Evelyn Carter and
Marjorie Rock will he han-
dling the gifts for the shut-
ins. A motion was passed to
make a quilt in 1997. The
meeting was adjourned. The
next meeting will he at Olavc
Papple's on Jan. 14, 1997 at
I:30 -p.m.
