Luke Van Bakel doesn't
know what he wants to be
when he grows up but others
know what he should become.
Following the first preview
of the St. Columban Grade 5
class's production of James
and the Giant Peach. some
thought the Grade 5 student
should be going straight to
Stratford's stage as an actor.
Van Bakel played the role
of James, which is his second
acting role. He first appeared
as ,the barker in a circus play
.while he was in Grade 3.
"I. like acting. You get a lot
of attention," he said follow-
ing the performance last
Friday afternoon.
Teacher/director Joanne
Smith said the class .read the
novel in September and began
rehearsals for the play in
October. Smith said the play
wasn't intended to become a
major production.
"The kids totik it over and
made it this big." she said.
The production is complete
with programs and a full cur-
tain call.'
Fpr the -last two weeks. the
students have been rehearsing
every day during their Ian-'
guagc arts period. Smith said
working on the play incorpo-

the region for which statistics
were tahulatcd in an October

lenge.
An . Ontario Provincial
Police press. release states
250,000 vehicles in more
than 120- cot nities were,
observed by , O volun-
teers.
Compliance in Wingham
was 67 per cent, and 70 per
cent in Goderich. Arthur
