All across Ontario, students
have been given the opportu-
nity to experience life in the
working world.
"Take Your Kids to Work
Day," is a provincial event
that was held last Wednesday.
November 6 by the hoards of
education. The goal (if the
day was to "provide a new
experience for students," says
Linda Doig, Guidance
-Counsellor at Scaforth
District High School. "It is
the first time for students at
SDHS and the response from
employers has been (nisi
five." says Doig.
All students in grade nine
were given the opportunity to
go to work with a parent or
choose to work at a business
that appealed to their inter-
ests, If the student could not
find a placement, the high
school's co-operative educa-
tion staff assisted in finding
one for the event.
Students spent the entire
day working and observing at
their business. finding out
what exactly went on in the
adult world of work. "Things
are a lot different then I
thought." says Sarah Agar
who worked ata law -office
because of her interest in law.
