ing results final standings list

Centenaires go on scoring spree
The Centenaires plastered a
pair of opponents this week-
end in Seaforth,- fattening
their stats by 19 goals while
conceding a scant four.
Sunday they cruised in their
best showing by far this -sea-
son, their fourth win in a row.
They hosted the Belmont
Bombers to a 9-2 drubbing.
Friday they deflated. the
short-staffed Ayr Centennials
10-2 at the Seaforth and
District Community Centres.
The. Cents take their show
on the road for their next
three games, starting down
the Tract at Mitchell Friday
night, but they currently sport
a 6-2 won -loss record and
-share first place in the
Morenz Division with the
defending.OHA champion.
Exeter -Hawks (still undefeat-
ed with two games in hand)
in the Junior "D"evelopment
League.
The Cents controlled the
puck, cooked as unit and
served up some creativity
Sunday. Goals by the gallon
in both -games. They domi-
nated the Bombers for the
final two periods, led 2-1
after the first and 5-1 after
..the second, out -shooting
Belmont exactly two to one. -
52 -26." -
Steve Mclnally and Mark
Van Dooren each scored
twice (once each on the pow-
erplay) and Richard Hurley,
Steve Geiger, Jason Hayter,
Mark Mohr and Tim Barton
put on a clinic. .
The Seaforth powerplay
connected four times and
Scott Wood got the win in
net, looking sharp on some
dangerous chances when the -
score was still close early.
The defence controlled its
points all evening and guar-
-terbacked well.
The only downer was an
injury to defenceman Mike
Harvey, "who had been play-
ing extremely well both for
the Cents and their junior B
affiliate - .the Stratford
Cullitons. He broke an ankle.
CENTS 10 AYR 2
The points were pretty
much a ".gimme" Friday
after Ayr showed up with
only 11, skaters, because of
suspensions, injuries and
some players with other com-
mitments.
They had played the night
before and only three players
remained on their bench by
the end of this long evening.
As entertainment the game
left much to be desired.
