advised that hi -weekly col-
lection of recyclables and.
tagged garbage will begin on
Wednesday, October 9. This
will continue throughout the
winter months; returning to
weekly pick-up in April
1997. Remember to place
your blue box and- tagged
garbage at the curb by 7 a.m!,
on your collection day, to
ensure Uninterrupted service.
Textiles will be collected
with hluebox materials on
Wednesday, November 6.
This will include items such
as: clothing, -accessories,
bedding, linens, foot wear,
and window covering. Items
should be free of mildew,.
oils, thinners etc. This is a
co,-operativeeffort with
Goodwill Industries. Items
should be bagged, and identi-
fied by tying a sock to the
,pag. Textile pick-up is a
waste reduction week activi-,
ty.

Busy weekend at Branch 156
It was a very busy weekend
at Branch 156. Saturday a
bus with Legion members
from Burford visited.
The Annual Solo tourna-
ment was held with 15 tables
in play. Congratulations
Mike on another successful
event.
Also on Saturday two teams
from our Ladies Auxiliary
went to Zortc CI Bowling.
One team came second.
Congratulations Ann Wood,
Thelma Coombs, Helen
Nicholson. Mary Ungarian
and Olave Little.
The Zone CI Variety show
went to Parkwood Hospital
also on Saturday. This show
is always well received by
thc patients. Mary De Jong
and Barbara S.ott went from
Br. 156 and took the articles
donated for the Veterans
along with donations from
thc other Branches in the
zone. The Veterans will be
looked after for awhile any-
way. Thanks 'to everyone

underway. Darts' started
Saturday at 8 p.m. There will
be a Steak B.B.Q. on Oct. 18

There will be Meat Draws
and Horse races starting at 5
p.m. Entertainment to fol-
low.
The Provincial Service
Officer will be at the Branch
on October 11 at 9 a.m..
The Early -Bird campaign is
well underway. Winners of
the Oct. draw for free mem-
bership for 1997 are Tom
Peckitt, Harry Horsup and
Tom Barry. 1

LACAC
and BIA
together
A special. committee of
Seaforth Council, the Local
Architectural Conservation
Advisory Committee
(LACAC) and the local
Business Improvement
Association (BIA) met on
Sept. 23.
According to the agenda of
last week's council meeting.
this heritage issues commit-
tee "confirmed that the pur-
pose for meeting was to dis-
cuss ways of maintaining the
integrity of the heritage con-
servation district while mak-
ing the application process
quicker and easier: and to
clearly define the roles of
LACAC, council, staff .and
the public."
Minutes of the meeting
were not provided in the
press information package, as
is standard practice for all
municipal committees, at last
week's council meeting. An
oral 'report was given by
Reeve Bill Bennett. •
The agenda states "a num-
her of ideas were discussed
and a second meeting" was
scheduled this Monday when
"the committee will be ,dis-
.cussing the roles and respon-
sibilities of_the key players."
