Good players on tap tonight
A couple of big Seaforth
and area names have now
confirmed for tonight's
(Wednesday) first hockey
game of the season at the
arena, the annual Dave
McLlwain Hockey School
"Summer Showcase" game,
which gets underway at 7:30.
Dan Wildfong and Greg
Murray will be on opposite
sides in the exhibition
encounter.
Wildfong will play for the
"School's" squad and Murray
for the "Stars".
Both started their junior
hockey careers in Seaforth
for the Centenaires, while
Greg (from the Dublin area)
also played his minor here
and Dan came out of the
Clinton system at 14.
Murray, now 28, played for
the Jacksonville Bullets in
Florida in the Southern
Hockey League last season.
He hasn't lost any of his flair
around the net, potting points
at well more than a one a
game clip last season -
with 38 goals at 44
assists. The Southern League
went belly -up in the off-sea-
son, including the Bulletts,
but the Macon and Hunstville
(Alabama) franchises have
since shifted to the Central
League. Greg signed a letter
of intent with Hunstville last
week.
Wildfong, as popular an
hockey instructor as he
remains a player, was the top
freshman last season with the
Colgate Red Raiders of the
Eastern Collegiate Athletic
Conference. Now 21, Dan
fired four goals and 11 points
as a rookie with the Red
Raiders last season.
Colgate is in New York
State, about 160 mile south -
cast of Syracuse.
Other stars playing in
tonight's game, some
announced previously but all
now confirmed, are:
