The local service provides many hours of home and hos- pital care each year. "Volunteers contribute to an atmosphere of compassion, emotional supp ort, and respect for members of our community who are facing a life threatening illness, and often provide an essential source of relief for primary caregivers," states the group's brochure. "We are developing support services for individuals recently diag- nosed with a life threatening illness. We also believe strongly in the value of sup- port for the bereaved." 47.
