Look out SPS, we're headed your way'
The final two days were
busy for staff and students at
Walton Public School.
Monday was the second part
of the talent show, with piano
solos by Katie Williamson,
Kelsey Bennewies, Ben
Bachert, Jessica Lubber,
Sarah McDonald, and Tyler
Elligsen. There was a baton
solo by Mandy Mitchell, and
Ricky Pethick played the gui-
tar. Sarah McDonald and
Lindsay McNicholdid some
step dancing and a family
duet, guitar and accompani-
ment was performed by the
DeWits. Whitney Kramer did
a lipsynch solo.
An assembly was held and
Carrie Lconhardt won the
Shirley Lyon, award for
excellence in language arts.
Each teacher and secretary
Linda Wilson were presented
by Helen Crocker with dircc-
tory recognition awards.
Perfect attendance awards
were handed out to Tina
Smith (grade 4), Robert
Johnston (3), Mitchell Blake
(2), and Steven McNichol
(1), Laura Bowers, Kciryn
Jacobs, Andrew VanVlict and
David Pethick (kindergarten).
The grade 1's celebrated
Canada. Day by having a
scavenger hunt using clues
that spelled treat. Their treat
was a Canada flag cake deco-
rated with strawberries and
whipped cream. The grade 2
and 3s held a paper airplane
flying contest. They made

Mrs. Crocker and teachers
all say this year flew by and
wanted to thank the commu-
nity and volunteers for their
wonderful support of the
school. Before I finish with
the school news I wanted to
make known a poem that was
written by Mrs. Vandendool,
who is quickly becoming
famous for her poems and
songs. Her fellow teachers all
tell me how she can just
make up a poem or a song at
any moment. So here is her
goodbye song for the grade
4s that will he moving on
next fall:
It's time for us to leave you
now. We're just too old to
stay. But don't you ever think
for once, that we'll forget --
No Way.
Walton School will always
have, a place within our
heart,
It's the school where we
began, it's where we made
our start.
So look out S.P.S. we're
headed right your way,
We won't he any trouble,
and we won't get in thc way.
We'll try our hest to do our
hest. We'll follow the golden
rule,
Cause that's the kind of
thing we learned at Walton

We gladly came each day to
school, to work and play and
learn,
We tried our best to be the
best at each and every turn,
We always found a caring
hand to help us all along,
And it is to these special
folk, we dedicate this song.
So look out S.P.S. we're
headed right your way,
We won't be any trouble
and we won't get in your
way.

best,

She also wrote a poem that
included something about
each student in her class.
Maybe someday you can say,
"we knew her when..."
Before the close of the
Sunday service at Duff's
United Church Rev, Randy
Banks thanked the congrega-
tion and said farewell. He
told them to help their new
minister and his family feel
welcome in the community
and to be supportive to his
ministry here in. Walton.
Before he left the choir led
the congregation in singing
"A Parting Blessing". Rev.
Banks left for his new home
in Castleton, On.

ONTARIO DRUG BENEFITS
IMPORTANT News for Seniors and
People Receiving Social Assistance
Because the federal government has • reduced transfer
payments for Ontario's health and social services by
$2.1 billion over the next two years, the Ontario government
must act now to preserve its drug programs.
Starting July 15, Ontario Drug Benefit recipients will contribute
a small amount toward their prescription costs. Ontario is the
last province to introduce co -payments.
How much you pay depends on your income. You will pay up
to $2 per prescription if you are:
• single, 65 or over, with a net income of
Tess than $16,018 per year
• a couple, both over 65, with a combined
net income of Tess than $24,175 per year
• living in a nursing home, home for the aged
or home for special care
• receiving welfare or family benefits
• receiving home care
You're 65 and your income is higher than the above? Then
you pay the first $100 of your drug costs each year. After
that, you'll pay only the ODB dispensing fee of up to $6.11
per prescription.
You have extra health insurance from a private company?
Call your company. It may cover co -payment costs.
Call the Ministry of Health at 1-888-405-0405 if you have
more questions. Or look for information sheets at your
pharmacy.
