The Shakespeare Colts
edged the Camlachie Sox 5-4
at Lions Park late Sunday
afternoon to win this sum-
mer's championship of the
annual Seaforth Invitational
Fastball Tournament.
Earlier in the afternoon
London Gators edged
Thamesford 3-2 for consola-
tion honours at the three-day,
I6 -team tournament.
The Colts posted wins over
Seaforth, Harriston, Mitchell
and Camlachie on their way
to the title.
Seaforth Plumbing and
Heating, who along with the
Walton Brewers again orga
nized this year's tournament
didn't do themselves any
favours scheduling -wise.
The locals played the even
tual champions from
Shakespeare in their firs
game, which they lost 6-3
Seaforth then took on the
eventual consolation champs
from London in their second
start, and were ousted from
their own tournament by a
score of 12-3.
The co -host Brewers
opened with . a loss to
Camlachie Sox, then beat
Sarnia in their second game
before being eliminated by
Thamesford.
Third -baseman Marty
Bedard drove in two runs
with a single for Seaforth in
the Shakespeare loss. Glenn
Lamb was the starting pitch-
er, replaced by reliever Floyd
Upshaw, who was scheduled
to start the London game but
got injured in warmups.
