Seaforth Council approves work on historic buildings

municipally -owned historic
buildings in Seaforth at last
Tuesday night's regular meet-
ing, and later decided to take
a look at deteriorating eaves
and facer board on the third
floor of Town Hall to deter-
mine what problems with
them would cost to fix.
Council accepted one of
three quotations, for $2,540

Seaforth Horticulture
Society met last Wednesday
at Northside United Church.
Eleanor Horst opened with a
poem. Nancy Kale intro-
duced guest speaker Thea
Wisch who came from
Germany in 1981 and bought
a farm in the Kippen area.
She showed how to make a
"Tussle Mussie", another
name for nosegay. They can
be made from either fresh or
dried flowers. Thea used the
dried then left the "Tussie
Mussie" for a door prize.
Nancy, thanked her and pre-
sented her with two garden
signs. Roll call answered by
32 members, telling of their
favorite annual flower.
Dorothy-Papple acted as
secretary in the absence of
Olave Little. •
Dilys Finnigan gave the•
treasurer's report and a
motion was made to pay all
bills. Eleanor Horst reported
four attended the Blyth meet-
ing,and that a rose has been
planted at the hospital. Civic
Improvement projects are
done, except at the Legion.
Ruth Bcuttenmiller reported
our plant sale a success, we
made $307. Kale reported the
bus is tilled, leaving Victoria
Park, July 17 at 7:30 a.m.
Bring a hag lunch.
The society is invited to
Wingham's 30th anniversary
June 22 at the Armouries
from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

New midget rules

The Walton 4-H Wearable
Art Club held it's

CORRECTION
Arca teachers retiring at
the end of this month were
honoured May 29_ when the
Huron Women Teachers'
Association met for its annu-
al banquet. Among them
were Marlene Britton of
Seaforth Public School;
Carolyn Hunter-Duvar, Carol
LeBeau, Shirley Carter and
Maric Tiernan, all from
Huron Centennial School;
and Wendy Hoernig of
Colborne Central.
Sheryl Hoshizaki, the presi-
dent of the 41,000 -strong
Federation of Women
Teachers' Association of
Toronto, was the keynote
speaker.
Council decided it would be
prudent to get someone to
take a closer look and see
what shape the facer board
was in at the same time
before going further. It decid-
ed to get quotes and propos-
als.
It was noted these eaves
might have a hearing On
problems with leaks from the
flat roof above the Ontario
Provincial Police Office, a
tenant of Town Hall.
