Seaforth hospital In response to redu funding from the Minis( Health for the 1996/97 fisc year ($114,500) combined with other financial pres- sures, the Seaforth • Community Hospital recently introduced a voluntary early retirement program for its full-time staff members age 53-65, according to a press release. A total of six staff n mbers have been approvediFir early retirement. Though the jlospi- tal will realize a small addi- tional cost in this fiscal year due to the retirement payouts it will achieve annualized savings of approx. $170,000 in 1997/98; and approx. $200,000 in 1998/99 and the years to follow. Bill Thibert, Chief Executive Officer stated that he was very pleased that these savings could be achieved through the positive approach of offering this vol- untaryearly retirement initia- tive. He indicated that the hospi- tal is continuing to identify efficiencies and.savings in order to achieve a balanced budget and to prepare for .additional government fund- ing cuts announced for the 1997/98 and 1998/99 fiscal years.
