The off ice training camp will be Literacy feast Featured Canadian per- formers at Huron County's third -annual Family Literacy Festival next week at the Clinton fairgrounds arc Paul Morin, Ted Staunton, Sonja Dunn, Mark Thurman, Camilla Gryski, Judy Ann Sadler and Rob Neeves, plus other talented workshop p-c- senters. The underlying purpose of the event, June 4 to 6, is to -stress that strong literacy -skills arc essential for every- one, and fostered in families. Daytime sessions are main- ly populated by school chil- dren who have pre -registered for the event but families are welcome, particularly on Family night June 6. New stop for Santa Organizers confirm Santa Claus will once again parade in Clinton this Christmas sea- son, after an absence of many years. Clinton's new Santa Claus Parade has been scheduled for Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. Santa will be a busy fellow in Huron that last week this November. He will be the star of show at the Goderich parade the next day. He's in Seaforth's parade the follow- ing Friday, Nov. 29. Rates approved Public education tax rates have been formally approved for adjacent boards of educa- tion .in the past couple of weeks. Rates have risen 1.83 per cent in Bruce County and 3.97 per cent in Perth for this year. The Huron public board's overall rate increase of 4 per cent was set earlier, late last month. The mill rate for public education supporters in Seaforth has gone up 7.6 per Cent for 1996.
