Crowd enjoys Father's celebration
Father J. Henry Cassano
(former pastor at St. James,
Seaforth). celebrated his 40th
anniversary of ordination at
St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica
to a huge crowd of parish-
ioners and other friends. The
St. Marys Choir sang beauti-
fully, CWL presented Father
Henry with a gift, Msgr. J.B.
O'Donnell gave an interest-
ing homily and Father Henry
was given a standing ovation.
After the Mass, the crowd
enjoyed a luncheon and get-
together in the school hall.
We are all very grateful to
Father Henry for his prayers,
love and friendship for the
past 40 years and wish him
good years ahead!

They also visited with Father
Sepek of Dresdan and Father
Flenn Dioscen-Historiano of
St. Peter's Cathedral,
London.

Pond study cut short by skunk visit
Tis week track and field
waF held. Reporter Andy
Pethick said that his Grade 1
class had a tug-of-war against
team three (made up of
Grade's 2, 3 and 4) and the
mighty Grade l's won! They
are small but mighty! Then
the Grade 4's took on -the
teachers and volunteers and
the teachers won: One kid
was heard to have said the
teachers won because they
are older and tougher.
The top two kids from each
event go on to the regionals
held in Scaforth on Thursday.
Here are the eight topcon-

past week. It seems that they
encountered a skunk and
brought the smell back to
school with them.
On Saturday the school and
town are having a village -
wide garage sale. Be sure to
drop up to the school to have
a look at all the wonderful
treasures that will be there for
sale.
There were 11 tables of
euchre played last Thursday.
The winners were: first, Ken
and Velma Preszcator; sec-
ond, Carmen and Millie;
third, Ivan Bennewies and
Edward Scherbarth. Men's
lone hand winner was
Raymond Haggit. Women's
lone hand winner was Carol
Doer. The next games will be
June 13 and 27.
Here's what's happening at
the Walton .Ball Park this
week. Squirts play Tuesday
at 7pm followed by the
Walton Brewers at 8:30pm
who take on the Brussels
Tigers. Ladies' slow pitch
has a game Wednesday at
7pm. Thursday sees mite
girls take on Belgrave at 7pm
followed by Brussels mcn's
slowpitch. Come on out and
support the teams.
Cars were lined up outside
the Clark residence as family
and friends helped Pam and
Bruce celebrate their 25th
wedding anniversary on
Saturday.

night, the UCW hosts "Music

This Saturday, the Aylmer

'Group Thursday evening had
a great time viewing our
video "100 Funniest
Moments in Comedy" from
the Readers Digest' collec-
tion. The video sure confirms
that laughter is good for you,
as everyone lost themselves
in an hour of hilarity.
Doug Insley, with his key-
board, entertained in the
retirement home lounge
Friday evening. We all love
Doug's talent and flexibility
as he played requests and
from his own repertoire of
music. It's great having
seniors from the community
join us for these special
evenings.

New events for Hensall Fair
With Hay and Hibbcrt Twps
both celebrating their 150th
birthdays this year, the fair
board chose the theme -
'Focus On Your Neighbours,'
for this year's Hensall Fair, to
be held June 7 and 8.
Several new events are
planned for this year to
encourage more youth'
involvement. Saturday morn-
ing features a Pet Show at
9am where youth 14 and
under are invited to show
their pet. For those without a
pet there is a class for 'the
most colourful stuffed ani-
mal.' The early schedule will
allow participants to return
their pets home and get them-
selves ready for the parade at
noon.
The Tug -Of -War will be for
amateur teams, 14-18 yrs. old
and 18 yrs. and over. Contact
Eric Freiter for more infor-
mation, 237-3351. Free
admission to those registered
by June 1. Members of the
Bluewater team will be on
hand to coach.
Mid-afternoon Saturday, an
exciting new event, 'Mutton
Busting', will be staged in
the horse ring. This mini -
rodeo, sheep riding event, is
for participants 6yrs. and
under.
Entertainment will be
stagedin the Auditorium
Saturday at 2pm, featuring
the infamous 'Kitchen Band'
from Grand Bend. Former
residents Lloyd and Gloria
Mousseau are members. Lisa
Rempel from Designer Decor
will follow, demonstrating
various wall -painting tech-
niques.
HOMEtown Community
Network will be set up live to
demonstrate the Internet.
Computer Hairstyle Imaging
will be available. `Picture
This' will transfer your pic-
ture onto mugs and various
other items.
Huron Sledge Hockey and
Ice Picking will stage a raffle
for each of two sledge hock-
ey sticks autographed by the
NHL Oldtimers.
Midway rides and various
activities by local service
clubs will operate Friday and
Saturday. The breakfast is on
again this year, Saturday
morning, as well as most of
the regular events. The Calf
Club show and sale should
prove exciting with close to
60 members showing calves.
Anyone 20 yrs: old and
under is invited to perform
Friday evening in the Talent
Show. Pre -registration is
required by June 1. Contact

The Kinettes are looking
for contestants for
Ambassador of the Fair. The
traditional crowning on
Friday evening is presenting
a challenge because the night
is the same as Formal Night
in Exeter. Any interested can-

Music Makin' Moms.' The
singing group is made up of
five talented women playing
various instruments and a
lead soloist. They have
recorded two gospel tapes
and,five country. The ladies
record out of a studio in
Allenford. These ladies have
been together for 16 years
now and know their stuff.
That night you will also hear
Gloria .Wilbee playing her
guitar and singing, Graeme
Craig and Don McDonald
singing a duet., Duff's Angels
are doing two numbers and
Becky Brown will entertain
as well.
A big thanks was issued to
all those people that worked
so hard to make the smorgas-
bord dinner a huge success
last week. There were 360
people fed that. night. A big
thanks goes to all the people
that came from far and wide
to partake of the delicious
meal served.
