Lindsay Hocgy, Kyle Griffith and Joel Dalton all brought in. special contribu- tions to the class. - After having had to cancel their planned trip to McGavin's about. three times due to rain. the Grade I•class finally got to go. The Grade 2's celebrated the end of their reading con- tracts and began to learn frac- tions. The Grade 3's made some pop -out flowers to try to con- vince either Spring or them- selves that warm, flower weather is coming. They have started reading hooks about pigs. It was a great week for the Grade 4's as they welcomed hack Mrs. Vandendool, who has hecn on sick leave for quite a while. There arc defi- nitely some very talented kids in the school. The class Walton by Patty Banks 887-686() .is making a newspaper with its own advice column. Walton Public School has also begun to get ready for track and field. Sunday was pulpit exchange at Duff's United Church and Rcv. -Bill McAuslan of Weslcy- WiIGs/Holmesville pastoral charge conducted the service. For caregivers; it is important that the spiritual component of our humanity. be acknowl- edged and affirmed in our- selves. as well as in those we care for. Approximately 40 people gathered at Seaforth Manor on April 18 for a seminar on. "Spiritual Caregiving: Maintaining the Balance as You Care for Others." It was led by Holly Book, a chap- lain on the palliative care team at thc London Health Sciences Ceritre. This very subjective topic was explored hy participants. The day con- sisted of short presentations, videos and an opportunity for discussion. His seven principles for maintain- ing balance when you care for others are: • The healthiest way to care for another is to care for yourself. • By focusing on your feel- ings, you can focus beyond your feelings. • To he close, you must establish boundaries. • In accepting. the helpless- ness of your helping, you• become a better helper. • Caregiving is more than giving care. It is also -receiv- ing care. • As a caregiver, strength is in flexibility. • In the 'everydayness' of your Caregiving lies some- thing more - sacredness! Undoubtedly, at one time or another throughout our life- time, everyone is called upon to he a caregiver at home or at work. It can he the most emotionally and physically exhausting work -we do. It can he• the most fulfilling and rewarding work we do. It can be the most important work we do! The seminar ended with a guided meditation led by Holly. Attending the work- shop were clergy, pastoral care volunteers, nursing staff. activity directors•and family members of residents. N/SHIK/ THE HURON EXPOSITOR, May 9, 1996-5 $4,000 heist at Perth Care for Kids Monday Thieves stole approximately 54,000 worth of equipment from Perth Care for Kids early Monday morning. Sebringville OPP Const. Ross Marshall said officers were first called to Mitchell District High School (MDHS) when the school's alarm system went off about.6 a.m. Police found the window in one of the computer rooms smashed. MDHS Vice -Principal Ken Malvern said it was valued at $50 and was replaced by noon on Monday. There was no sign of forced entry. After investigating at MDHS, police checked Perth Care for Kids. Finding no evidence of a break-in, they left the scene. Thieves apparently entered the building after the police left. When employees arrived at Perth Care for Kids: a double pane window was smashed. Also, a computer and a VCR were stolen. Const. Marshall said there are no suspects but police are continuing their investigation.
