Week. "Physiotherapists are inter- ested in the activities done while you're not on thc job - the way you sleep, the way you sit, how you bend over,- said physiotherapist Carol Bowker. Members of the public had . a chance to view two hack - related videos, one on osteo arthritis and another entitled "Back to Basics." "They're on all the simple things that lead toward hack problems, innocent things," said Bowker. One thing thc physiothera- py department works on is prevention of injuries and treatment of recurrence. An assortment of handouts was available on specific warm- ups and stretches for a variety of sports from baseball to ski- ing. 'fhcre was also, a "com- puter and desk stretches" sheet for those desk -hound workers. These exercises included stretches for fingers, face, shoulders, neck, arms and legs. Physiotherapists regularly treat musicians with specific • muscle strains. "Sometimes you have piano players or violinists who have prob- lems. Musicians suffer from repetitive strain injuries (RSI)," said -Bowker. She says people don't nec- essarily do their hack harm when they do a heavy lift because they're usually more conscious of injury. "It's the small motions that aren't par- ticularly heavy that do the damage. It's common sense things that we don't take the . extra minute to do properly."
