Will Christian School be able to retain name?'
CONTINUED from page 4
School system, I can speak
for the Clinton and District
Christian School in Clinton
whz,n I advise Paul Carroll
'that, under the present struc-
ture, -a unified school board
will not be an acceptable way
to govern a Christian School.
A Christian School, such as
CDCS, needs to_protect its
charter (as does any organi-
zation) by excluding those
(families and teachers) Who
would like to use the school
but who cannot agree with
the fundamentals of it charter.
Is there : room in Paul
Carroll's single school board,
for a Christian School that for
fundamental reasons must
maintain the right to discrim-
inate in the areas of hiring
and of admissions? In Paul
Carroll's single school sys-
tem, will the Christian
School retain the right to
establish its own 'Christian
curriculum?' Will the
Christian school even'be able
to 'retain the name
'Christian?'
Paul Carroll's single school
board may sound like a good
idea to those who -presently
use the Public School
System, It may even sound
interesting to those who
-anticipate some form of
Government funding for the
Christian School. But at what
price? - •
-
My challenge to all of Paul
'Carroll's- 'Friends of the
Huron Public Education
System' is to look beyond
. theirown school system. Be
a friend not only of the
Huron Public Education
System,_ but of Huron
County, of Ontario and of
Canada. Please remember the
importance of diversity, of
healthy competition, of the
message of Christianity for
our youth and for our society.
Please use _Paul Carroll's let-
ter, send it to Helen Johns,
but write NO! across it. Feel
free to cut out and send this
letter as well.

YOUR. ONTARIO GOVERNMENT
Doing Better for Less.
, CHANGING GOVERNMENT FOR A BETTER ONTARIO -
' Doing better for less in government is a key part of our plan. to
reduce costs, balance our budget, improve the investment climate in
` Ontario, create jobs and restore hope and opportunity. -
CHANGES TO IMPROVE THE SYSTEM
The -government is spending,$1 million
an hour more than it is taking in. No family,
business or government can survive spending
like that. Spending $70 to administer each
payment of $2.75 a day to jurors and sending
OPP 'cars to Thunder Bay for basic.repairs are,
the kinds of inefficiencies we ,must stop so we
can direct your tax dollars into priority areas.
And ;in priority areas such as health care,
we're looking for efficiencies as well — ,
taking the financial savings from expensive
institutions to teinvest into critical areas
such as long-term care community services,
kidney dialysis, immunization, and
cardiac services.
CHANGES THAT ARE'THOROU(;H
AND FAIR
In November, we outlined cost-saving
targets for ministries to,aihieve. We are
meeting these targets and changing the
way government operates by developing
comprehensive business plans.
CHANGES THROUGH GOOD PLANNING
AND MANAGEMENT
Ministry -by -ministry business plans are a
new way to organize decisions about the "what,
how, and where" of spending your tax dollars.
By answering the tough question, "what is a
ministry's core business?", we can focus our
efforts like a laser beam. We will downsize
oper?tions, save money in administration,
reduce waste and duplication, streamline and
transfer services. Through this exercise, we
will provide you better quality, lower cost core
services and activities.
How YOU CAN BE INVOLVED
Detailed business plans will be published
after the Budget. For a copy of the recent
