Seaforth arena
The theft of a coat
occurred on the evening of
March 23-24. A men's black
leather coat valued at $450
was stolen from the coat rack •
in the foyer of the east hall,
Seaforth Community Ccntrc.
BREAK AND ENTER
On. March 29, Today's
Variety store, Main St.
Londeshorough, was broken
into and. $314 in lottery tick-
ets were stolen. Damage to
thc front door was estimated
at $75. Tickets stolen were'
Bingo, Deal Mc in, Hunt for
Cash, Wintario, Slots of
Money and Keno, all
stamped with the store num-
her on the hack - 33-149.

A 1995 Jccp Cherokee

located in Tuckcrsmith Twp..
Conc: 5, on March 29. After
having struck a tree and
rolling over causing exten-
sive damage, the Jeep was
then driven into a ploughed
field and abandoned. Stolen
lottery tickets were found at
the scene. •

On March 29 a 1983
Oldsmobile Cutlass was
stolen from Tuckcrsmith
Twp., Conc 5, and later
recovered in the Town of
Goderich.

Township to
asphalt two
road sections
McKillop Council decided
to asphalt two stretches of
road in the township this year
when it mct March 5.-
- Both stretches will meet up
with sections already com-

concession roads 3 and 4 to

Health Minister announces AIDS office moves
change to long term care

parliamentary assistant for

Her press release followed
Ontario Health Minister Jim
Wilson's announcement that
$170 -million will be directed
into community-based home
care, . from the savings
expected by significant cuts
to the budgets for all hospi-
-tats in thc province over the
next three years.
The health minister said
the changes mean an addi-
tional 80,000 to 100,000 pc•► -
plc will get long-term care at
home.
The administrator of the
Seaforth Manor, Ruth
Hildebrand. is happy about
last week's announcement s
from the Ontario govern-
ment.
"We support independent
living within our facility and
in the .community," she says.
"Thc redistribution of funds
will help both.
"This is the first time that
residents of nursing homes
will receive thc same funding
as residents in homes for thc
aged,"•the Manor administra-
tor adds:

Huron MPP Johns states'
London region's portion. of -
the redirected funds would be
divied up between hong-term
care facilities ($R -million)
and community agencies
($9.5 -million), and "thc
money is expected to create
an equivalent of almost 500
jobs in this province alone."
Ontario's health minister
also announced "that $144.6 -
million in existing.funding
for long-term care facilities
will he redistributed to cot-
reel funding inequities that
have existed for two decades
ancJ were exacerbated by the
previous government's poli-
cies."

tributed -in long-term: care
facilities to better reflect the
care needs of residents," the
parliamentary health assis-
tant's press release continues.
"In addition, 528.7 -million
will he available to assist
homes with higher -than -aver-
age costs."
Beginning in June. nursing
homes and homes for the
aged will he funded accord-
ing to a formula based on
what kind of care their
patients require.
