MT. CARMEL SCORES - A
member of Mt. Carmel's
hockey team scores on
Goderich during the annual
Knights of Cdlumbus
Hockey Tournament at the
Seaforth and District
Community Centres on the
weekend.
Triple A ice rental rates to be negotiated
A motion to set a non -sub-
sidized ice rental rate for
triple A hockey the same as
for similar groups was lost
due to no seconder at a recent
Seaforth and. District
Community Centres manage-
ment committee meeting.
Local minor sports groups
pay about $20 an hour less
for ice than do other
Seaforth groups paying
$82.50, because they are sub-
sidized in the current rate
structure.
According to management
committee minutes, arena
manager Graham Nesbitt
advised that triple A, a new
two -county hockey organiza-
tion that calls itself elite and
is considering a registration
fee of $600. "had booked
about 24 hours practice time
in the spring, bus no final
hourly rate had hcen final-
izcd.'
-
A motion to set the rental
rate for the triple A hockey
team at $82.50 was lost.
"Graham noted that the ice
being rented would not dis-
place local groups... the min-
utes state. " The ice time is
available as free ice since
broomball and other groups
will have finished their year.
Graham will negotiate with
the teams and will report
hack to the hoard."
