Good Foods club has
late spaghetti supper.
BY MIKE VAN BAKEL
The sixth meeting of the
Seaforth i Good Foods Fast
- club was held on Monday,
March 18 at 7 pm. It was our
last meeting and we had a
late supper including
spaghetti with a meat sauce
• we made and a punch called
grape. spritzer. Garlic bread
was also served which was
• very tasty. It was decided that
our hooks would he handed
in the next Week. Our last
meeting was closed with ice
cream and homemade straw-
berry and chocolate sauces.
Meeting five was held on
March 4 at 7 pm. The 4-H
pledge opened the meeting
and Lindsey read the minutes
from the last meeting. The
roll cal) was answered and
we spent some time colour-
ing our new title pages. We
next went over which cook-
ware can go in the
microwave and for what safe-
ty reasons. We also looked at
the proper way to reheat and
defrost different food items.
Then Melissa Wallace had a
small quiz for us to do. We
baked spaghetti sauce and
more. The meeting ended
with a delicious snack.

Animal info shared
The sixth meeting of 'The
Explorers' took place on
Monday, March 4. We began
our meeting with roll call.
We were asked which three
plants we would want in our
gardens. We also shared the
information we had gotten
about the rewards and proh-
• lems of caring for animals.
We guessed which seeds
belonged to which plant and
judged radishes. We also
looked at the differences
between a sprout and an adult
plant.
We each got to plant some
seeds to take home with us.
The first meeting of 'The
Explorers' took place at the
home of Hilda Bach on
Tuesday. Jan. 23. We started
our meeting with roll call.
Everyone had a topic
involved in our club (Explore
4-1-1) pinned on their hacks.
We guessed what it was and
wrote our name and the topic
on the 4-1-1 crest.
We held elections. The
results arc as follows: presi-
dent, Katie Thomas; vice-
president, Marci DeGroof:
secretary, Jennifer O'Rourke,
press reporter, Krista
Heimpel. There arc two other
members: Jill McKichan and
Stephanie Bach.
The •fourth meeting was
held on Feb. 26 at 7:00 pm.
The meeting opened with the
4-H pledge and the roll call
was answered by all mem-
hers. Katie Wood read the
minutes for the last meeting.
We went over all the new
material in our hooks and
members decided on Katie's
title page for the new cover
of our books. Our group then
tested the microwave for 'hot
spots' by making '.smores'.
The meeting ended at 9 pm
and our group enjoyed some
very good and gooey
'smores'.
Meeting three of the Good
Food Fast 4-H club was held
dui Monday, -Feb. 19 at 7:30
pm. This was our busiest
meeting yet with talks on
meal planning. .leftovers and
how to use and re -use ti)em,
smart shopping and organiz-
ing kitchens. Our group's
junior leader, Melissa
Wallace, gave a presentation
on kitchen appliances and we
listed all the appliances we
could think of. Melissa had
another game for us and we
later made pizza -style frit-
tatas. We closed the meeting
by enjoying our pizza -like
omelettes.
