A huge congratulations to
thc senior girls' volleyball
team: it displayed amazing
talent and great tenacity at
the ' WOSSA 'A'
Championships on March 1.
The team was edged out by
the first place team from
Glencoe. Now that it is over.
thc girls can reflect hack on a
very successful season. A big
'thank -you' goes out to the
two coaches: James Sampa
and Ruthann Waldick. A kind
farewell goes to the girls who
will not.he returning and
have been great assets over
the years: Sandra Dale, Laura
McKercher and Marcy
McCall.
Last Wednesday. the
Grads experienced defeat as
the OPP team 'locked up' and
'stole' three volleyball games
to zero in a special exhibition
match. The police were a lot
of fun and full of great spirit
cuffing star server Laura
McKercher. Everyone had a
great time and the event gave
support to , the Special
Olympics.
Bar closing indication of industry
A popular watering hole in
London called the "Ox Box"
that shut down permanently in
January is a good indication of
what's happening in the
hospitality industry. says the
co-owner of the Redford Hotel
in Goderich, Mary.1.apainc.
She is also ('hair of -the On-
tario Hotel and Motel As-
sociation.
When the Oxford Hotel
closed, the owner of thc 62 -
year -old pub said "he couldn't
charge customers enough to be
profitable anymore".
But Lapaine says the stove
by the province to extend
drinking hours may he an
indication it ' is listening to
industry concerns.
She added the hospitality
industry has a lot of low -entry
jobs, another priority of the
government..
"1t would help welfare people
and :hat's one of the things
Harris said he would do - put
welfare people to work,"
Lapaine said in an 'interview
with The London Free Press.
