The St. Columban
Catholic Women's League
held their annual meeting on
Tuesday, March 5, in the rec-
. tory meeting room.
Upcoming events are the
annual St. Patrick's Pub
Night on Saturday, March 16
in the St. Columban Parish
Hall, the Good Friday bake.
sale on April 5 in the Parish
Hall' following. the Good
Friday services, and the June
Social on Wednesday, June
12.

from each of the executive
during the parish year, Karen
Ryan, nominating chairper-
son, brought in the new exec-
utive for 1996: president,
Anne Marie Maloney; 1st
vice, Carol Ryan; 2nd vice,
Kim Gerlich; 3rd vice, Anne
Murray; recording secretary,
Joan Murray; corresponding
secretary, Nancy Kale and
.,treasurer, Pat Koehler.
A surprise get-together
was held on Saturday night,
March 9, at the home of
Gerry and Karen Ryan and
family to celebrate the 70th
birthday of Cecilia Ryan.

meeting held at
Walton Hall
Huron '9.9 IPM held an
information meeting on
Wednesday, March 6 in the
Walton Community Hall.

evening. Jack answered ques-
tions and gave his opinions

Tony Jang, the treasuer of the
1993 Bruce match, also
answered questions from the
group.
Over 30 committees will
be working together to orga-
nize the IPM. The IPM '99
Huron group was very
pleased with thc excellent
turnout at the meeting,
reported Chair Craig.

VITAL STATISTICS - The family of Beryl Reid officially presented the Vital Statistics of
Ontario, the complete records of births, deaths and marriages in the province since 1869,
to the Huron County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society last week. Reid, a
Seaforth resident, was an active member of the branch before her death. Here Donna
Nicholson (right), chair of the local branch, explains the usefulness of the index to-Reid's
family, husband Watson Reid, son Daniel Reid, daughter Donna Arts and her husband
- Harry Arts. The Vital Statistics is available at the Goderich library and is valued at over
$1,000.
Spring convention attended in Gorrie

of the Branch. and Ladies:
Auxiliary attended -the Zone
CI spring convention in
Gorrie. This meeting had
been postponed on account of
the weather, but still all 13
branches in the zone were in
attendance.
At the Auxiliary meeting
last week new member Linda
Nott was initiated and wel-
comed. The April meeting
will begin with an anniver-
sary pot -luck supper. The
Auxiliary was formed in
April 1952.

Ten weeks of solo held at Hensall legion
Solo has been held at the _ e
Hensall legion for the past ' Hensall
ten weeks. Thursday night;
March 7,' saw the final -game.' by Liz Sangster
followed by a social hour and 262-2715
distribution of prizes.

Chinchilla club learns about feeding

Thc Feb. 17 meeting of
the 4-1-1 chinchilla club began
with the 4-H pledge and pres-
ident Dchhic Hoggart opened
the meeting. We did our roll
call. Our guest Kim Glazier
came from Milton Dietz
Limited. Kim Glazier talked
about feeding our chinchillas.
Shc gave us some info on
Listeriosis (a had gcrni that
kills chinchillas) and a chart
on nutrition. Ray and Barb
Storey answered the ques-
tions that thc 4-H members
had. Then we got out some.
chinchilla magazines and
looked at them.
Development . - and
Cominunication Committee
will he .held March 17. The
Official Board of the Hensall
United Church will meet
March 20. All members are
-urged to attend. The senior
choir will meet Friday at 7:30
pin. Vacation bible school
will he held March 18-22,
from 9-11:30 am. The topic is
'Easter is for Everyone.'
