Where were you Gregor? It is also interesting to note other inaccuracies in your article. You state "Talent goes up, and best develops by compet- ing against those equal or better." What do you think we are trying to do? I think you should check your tobacco because that statement alone proves our point: . If you think it is O.K. for kids to go up a couple of levels, go and ask the Monkton Fora player who had his elbow shattered .playing Midget hockey while still Bantam - aged. He would have been better served playing against the best Pec Wee players in Southwestern Ontario and we will give him that chance. We will also allow all the others in the area the same opportunity. We are not forcing anyone to play for us. You also flap your gums about the rules concerning Midget -aged players. Maybe it would serve the "award win- ning journalist" to check out the facts. That rule was dis- cussed and defeated. It will not be implemented. Where were you Gregor? You also want to quote Mr. Rick Vivian and ascribe the title of AAA convenor for the WOAA. Mr. Vivian did not accept the position and we arc presently' working with Mr. Jack Twolan and receiving the full co-operation of the WOAA. AAA EXECUTIVE BOARD The membership of our board consists of the President of Goderich Minor Hockey, people from Stephen Twp. Minor Hockey, Hensall, Zurich, Clinton, Bruccfield and Wingham. It is not Charlie Akcy, but rather an executive Board of all these people who are involved. We have had people from St. Mary's, Clifford, Teeswater and other areas attend our meeting and decline direct participation but offer help. Exeter Minor Hockey has offered us ice time as well. You also quote liberally from the Stratford Beacon Herald article (on Triple A hockey). They were at our meeting and it is clear from what they state in part two of that article that they want a Triple A designa- tion as one of their options. For Mr. Petrie to speak from one side of his mouth and say we as a zone are bad but Stratford as t centre for AAA is O.K. is disir •nuous at best. Stratford wuwJ then control who plays and, who doesn't and we would be like Stratford losing our best to Waterloo. 1 think that alternative pres- ented in the article makes his protestations a little suspect. Mr. Campbell doesn't think so, he uses that to back him up. 1995 OHL DRAFT 1 met with you, Mr. Campbell and showed you the following list of numbers. 1995 OHL. Draft - Where did the players come front? - Jr. D - 3 players High School Hockey - 5 players Bantam AAA - 6 players Jr. C Hockey - 11 players Jr. B Hockey 59 players Ticr_11 "A" - 95 players Midget AAA - 134 players. Eisler, Brasseur soon in Stratford Figure skating professional Lloyd Eisler of Seaforth, and his World -champion and two- titne Olympic medal partner Isabelle Brasseur; will highlight a press conference in Stratford a week from this Saturday in honour of the 20th anniversary "Bowl for Kids" campaign. WINGHAM • 357-3435 For Erealns Appointment:, Can Duda, Business Noun Ark For Brian. L You called that a list a lie. I would appreciate your proof of that. These figures come from the OHL media guide pub- lished by the league. Does the league lic? Why? It is also interesting to note Lthe same day the London Free Press ran an article stating since 1979, 4 planers went directly from Jr. D to OHL. In 16 ycars-,4 players, one of which was my son. It is inter- esting to note that he played the whole season that year with Listowel Jr. "13" and returned Tate to the Centenaires for the all -Ontario drive. Where were you Gregor? 1t is not exactly a flood of Jr. "D" players to the OHL. Talk to my son David, who agrees with AAA hockey, about the advantages the AAA players like Jim Spratt, Trevor Dam, Paul Holden had in their first years as opposed to what David went through. I was there and went through it with him. Where wcrc you Gregor? HARD TO SELL JR."D'+ 1 went on to scout first for Listowel Jr. B in Northern Ontario and the Sudbury Wolves, OHL Hockey. 1 know firsthand how hard it is to sell a CC and Jr. D player at the scouting table. I tried with a young man from Clinton and he was drafted by another club, the last pick in the draft. 1 don't think he was given a real good chance but injuries forced him to retire anyway. What experience- do you bring Gregor? COST LESS THAN $600 You are right Gregor when you found someone to say 1 Misrepresented the cost at S6(X) (per player). The cost is S350 when players and parents par- ticipate in two small fund- raising ventures. As to cost of travel, etc. - think Seaforth and Mitchell (minor hockey teams) presently drive to Port Elgin, Mt. Forest and Kincardine. Are these trips free? Clow about tournaments, arc they free'? Seaforth teams reg- ularly travel to Sarnia and Port Huron. Arc they free? Our fee includes ice timtnd all games and it compares to what parents now pay. Ask Minor Hockey parents how many extras they'pay for. Do you know Gregor? Docs Rick Vivian know? Rick Vivian has not attended any meetings so he can't know. We already have applications from good quality coaches and welcome more. Parents and players from all over are call- ing everyday inquiring about where and when, etc. I find it also ironic that when we asked the Expositor for some free space to notify people where to send applica- tions for coaches we wcrc told to buy- an ad. Clinton and Goderich papers gave us the space free. (Editor's note: It has been the policy of The Huron Expositor in the past to charge minor hockey teams and the Centenaires for an adver- tisement when they are looking for new coaches). I will put my .dedication and work on the line against yours any day. I also did not write this to seek any recognition. I already hive the satisfaction of knowing 1 did my share. My purpose now is to provide better hockey for talented youth. have the name and number of a person in St. "Thomas who can tell you of his experience .with the Elgin -Middlesex Zone AAA Hockey. -Hc advised me that St. Thomas Minor-4ockey now at BB level is t owing and has increased registration as well as Juvenile for the first time in 15 years. The kids also now have the option of AAA added to that experience. He said everybody won once the self-righteous and narrow- minded stopped their bleating and got on with. the job, pro- viding the best possible hockey experience at all Ievc.ls for everyone.
