North Middlesex Stars to catch

giving up the equalizer with six
seconds left, then dropping a 5

Alter Saturday's latest little
sudden -death, the Cents have
now only tied once in six over-
times this season, with five
losses. They have lost another
half-dozen games in the late
stages of regulation.
Steve Mclnally stayed in the
thick 'of his quest for the
division scoring title with a.
goal and three assists in the
two games. -
Mark Van Dooren also lit the
light twice for the Centenaires -
in the win over the Hawks;
.with Shaun Anstcu scoring
another.
Goaltender Scou Wood saved
the - Cents' bacon when he
robbed Mitchell of the e-
qualizer, by then all over their
gracious hosts, with about a
minute -and -a -half left to play.
Mike Stevenson got the start
in Parkhill and deserved better
than a loss.
Tim Barton stood out for the

TNI HURON IXPOSITOR, February 7, 1.04-11
third p lace on weekend
ended a Wdrought by
scoring the goal that would
have won the game at 12:12 of
the third, until the Stars sent it
into OT with the scant half-
dozen seconds left:
. Meanwhile some Morenz
teams are bulking up for the
playoffs. The Stars have signed
someone who is six -feet plus
and hefty from Sioux Falls, a
student at Fanshawc. Lucan has
also signed a new defenceman
and added another goalie "on
loan" until next year from the
junior B Strathroy Blades.
The Centenaires host the
Belmont Bombers in their final
regularly scheduled home game
this Friday night at 8:30. Satur-
day night they are at Port Stan-
ley for an 8:30 date with the
Lakers, who are the current
pace -setters in the Thomas
Division, only one point up on
both Thamesford and the
Bulldogs from Mt. Brydges,
where the 'Cents play a res-
-cheduled game next Wednes-
day night, the final game on
their schedule.
The Centenaires now have 42
points, for the books the
fourth -best regular season
record in their 23 -year -history.
Only the original 1974-75
team and the championship
squad from 1984 to 86 have
done beuer.
Entering this season the
Seaforth juniors had played
exactly .500 hockey over the
past two seasons. Were they
not to even earn a solitary
point in their final three. the
Cents would still finish at .552
this time around.
