Devereaux 'devastated'
after high -sticking incident

Boyd Devereaux of Scaforth
and the Kitchener Rangers was
"just devastated", according to
his father Ken, by an accident
in a recent junior -A game that
resulted in a serious eye injury
for Chris Van Dyk of the
Windsor Spitfires, who under-
went surgery last Wednesday.
The 19 -year-old from ,Wel-
land suffered a partially tom.

Ken says the Rangers took
Boyd aside and told him the
extent of the injury, which was
Boyd's main worry, before the
story hit the' papers. Family,
the Kitchener and Windsor
coaching staffs, and even the
mother of the injured player
talked with Boyd last week.
Boyd's father also says the
prognosis was better for Van
Dyk after Wednesday's
operation than it was before it.
Windsor coach Mike Kelly
didn't see the incident but told

(Tuesday) Huron -Perth high
school girls basketball all-star
games at Stratford St. Michael.

the senior game. Kara Murray,
Lisa Reynolds and Amy
Hamon earned berths on the
all-star junior squad.
