Making the presentation is Ruth Hildebrand, left, and Joanne Ryan, right. Residents busy making gift tags Monday afternoon residents were busy making Christmas gift tags. It's a relaxing and enjoyable activity an.1 we are making a very saleable item. Baking Club produced Gingerbread Men 'lhursday afternoon. The little guys are harder to make then they look, or maybe it was our cookie cutter. A few legs had to be patched on. Dining Club Thursday evening again had a good turnout with several staying for our featured movie 'White Chrisunas', a classic with Bing Crosby. Several United Church youth plus leaders .Joan and Debbie assisted residents and supplied prizes at Bingo Friday evening. They also presented each resident with a beautiful handmade Christmas, decoration. All had a great evening. Kim Reddick's voice students provided a wonderful musical afternoon Saturday when they sang solos, duets, J Queensway and quartets accompanied by Kim un her electric piano. Our residents were an appreciative audience and look forward to 'having Kim and her students back. W.c mourn the loss of Joe Bertram and Gladys Cooper who passed away recently. Volunteer Chaplain Winnie Hutton will be leading a memorial service for them Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 2 pm. COMING EVENTS Dec. 14, 2 pin - Hensall Public School Program; 7 pm - Al De Haan Singers and then Games Night with Christian Reform Young People Dec. 21, 7 pm - International Day featuring Israel with Dr. Ecker W.I. members bring quilt patterns Kippen East W.I. met at the home of their president Grace Drummond with Dorothy Bell as co -hostess, . on Nov. 21. Grace had her usual funny reading, to open the meeting. The roll call was answered by the ladies bringing in their quilt block patterns for the book, more are to come. Hilda Payne introduced Shirley Mousscau of Hay Township who told the group about all the events upcoming in Hay in 1996, the year of their sesquicentennial. Shirley was dressed in early era clothing as she explained how busy everyone has been planning events which will involve everyone, young and old. She was thanked by Grace Eyre. Hilda Payne read 'Just Another Day on the Farm' and Grace Eyre had the 'Smile'. Hilda reported on the District Board Meeting and Grace Drummond gave Area Convention highlights. Grace Drummond had a story 'Don't Count on Him'. Winners of the draw were Lil McLennan and Marlene Bell. Mona Alderdice had two contests and lunch was served by Helen MacLean and Mona Alderdice. Christmas Friendship Circle held The Christmas meeting of the Friendship Circle of Hensall United Church was held Dec. 4 at the home of Rev. Henry and Ann Annen. Ann was in charge of the meeting and welcomed all and gave a Chrisunas prayer. Ann opened the meeting with a poem 'Christmas is a Season of Christmas Kindness'. A humorous skit entitled 'A Great Saving', starring Helen MacLean and Ann Annen, was much enjoyed. The Roll Call was answered by 18 members each bringing personal articles for women and children of Friendship House, Goderich. The treasurer's report was given and it was moved by Mona Dublin by Dorothy Dillon 345-2883 Excellent. Christmas concert Mitchell and surrounding area filled the Crystal Palace to attend -.Christmas Presents', the Mitchell Legion Band's annual Christmas concert on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Everyone participating did an excellent performance. A special conductor, Clare G. French, receives a congratulations and a thank you for an excellent job! Birthdays arc always special', but as I know this lady quite well, I must extend a very Happy 95th birthday to Bernadette Whaling (a former school teacher) who now resides at Spruce Lodge, Stratford. All your friends, Bernadette, wish you good health.and happiness. Soy -powered tractor A Rockwood -area tractor - puller is winning with soybean fuel. Norm Craigie's tractor won the 9,000 -lb. class and finished second in the 10,500 -pound class in the Southwestern On- tario Tractor Pullers' As- sociation circuit using a fuel derived from soybeans. He says he didn't notice any change in performance after switching from petroleum- based to soy diesel.
