No, it's not some new form of head -banging, chord -crunching music. It's the name of a concert by three acoustic recording artists, including Bayfield resident Jeff White, who recently returned to the field of music after an absence of several years. The other two performing artists will be Ana Coutinho and Roger Lee. "We've done concerts before, but this is the first one we'll do together in Goderich," says White, adding, "We were look- ing for some place to play, and I've done concerts at The Livery before." White also has a personal reason for organizing this con- cert: he's moving to Toronto shortly, and while he hopes to perform in Goderich many times in the years to come, "I wanted to make sure I'd play here at least one more time." White has performed in the past for CBC television and radio in his home province of Newfoundland. He released Grey Lord, an album of original songs pro- duced by Juno award -winner Eugene Martynec. White also composed a series of choral works, called Messengers, which was performed at the Olympic Velodrome in Montreal, and is included on three jazz/rock recordings pro- duced for the CBC. He is cur- rently at work on Saucers, the first of four theme -based musi- cal projects which will be released in 1996. Coutinho released On the Borderline, with guitarist Ray Montford, in 1990. The record- ing received national airplay, and Coutinho was interviewed on CBC's. The Entertainers' and 'Musical Friends.' In 1993, she released her next album, Eyes Never Lie, which was produced by John Switzer. In.1994, Coutinho and three colleagues Gloria Blizzard, Cate Friesen and Katherine Wheatley formed a collective which received grants from the Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for a series of self -produced concerts. The result, 'Drive, She Said,' was performed at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre in May 1995. The concert runs from 8 to 10 p.m., with refreshments. Tickets are available at Ernie King Music in Goderich and Wingham, and also at the door. Blyth singers perform Sunday Join the Blyth Festival Singers for Christmas In Song on Sunday, December 10 at 3:00 and 7:30 p.m. The annual Christmas concert will be held in the Blyth Memorial Hall and will feature a variety of favorite choral pieces, including a presentation of Brother Heinrich's Christmas, by the contemporary English composer John Rutter. Brother Heinrich's Christmas is the story of donkey who makes his way into the church choir. The tale will be narrated by Duncan McGregor of Blyth, and Marion Doucette will perform with Sigismund, the donkey puppet. Other featured guests will be trombonist Nancy Ross of Goderich, who gives Sigismund his distinctive singing voice, and flutist Kelly Dearlove. The 40 voice Blyth Festival; Singers will be lead by Wade Whittaker and accompanied by Deborah Wood. After each of the two performances, the choir will follow its annual Christmas tradition of serving its famous hot spiced apple cider and homebaked goodies in the downstairs hall. With cuts, demand for bureau increased 'With Government cutbacks the need and demand are greater than ever,' says the Chair of the Huron County Christmas Bureau. Murray Gaunt of Wingham says the Huron County Christmas Bureau has been providing support for needy children in the County for over 35 years. Last year the Bureau provided food, clothing and toys for 1,110 children in 495 families. Each child receives a new toy and new clothing. Food and food vouchers are also issued to the family. The Children's Aid Society along with the churches operate five County Bureaux which collect and distribute donations to needy families in their areas. In this way the Children's Aid Society and the community are working together to build a brighter future for our children. Gaunt says that Huron County has a tradition of providing for needy families who seek help at Christmastime. He is encouraging individuals, businesses, organizations, schools and churches to be especially generous this year. It will all help to put a smile on a child's face this Christmas Season.
