Tutti Fruitti's do skits, songs
On Nov. 23, the St.
BY LINDA VOGELS
On Nov. 29 the St.
Columban Tutti Fruitti's held
their sixth meeting in St.
Columban. Anne Murray split
us into three goups and we
did some catching up on our
4-1-1 book.
Then we played a game that
was kind of like win, lose or
draw but you picket a type of
fruit or vegetable and drew
that. Next we went to the
kitchen to cut cake and set
one piece on each napkin.
Then out leaders told us to
work on our skits, plays, or
songs. At the end of the
meeting everyone enjoyed the
cake and raspberry punch.
U.I. to finish
one billion in
the black
Even before the federal
government made changes to
the unemployment insurance
program last Friday, it expected
its unemployment insurance
fund would finish this year
about $i -billion in the black,
after being awash in red ink by
alrnost S6 -billion three years
ago.
Statistics Canada reported
earlier last week that for the
first nine months of this year
UI payments fell to a five-year
low of $10.7 -billion, 15 per
cent less than a year ago.
There was a 16.2 per cent drop
in, the average number of
beneficiaries.
A record low proportion of
unemployed Canadians are now
getting benefits, only 37 per
cent in September, compared to
66 per cent in 1990 and 75 per
cent before the onset of the
recession that year.
Columban 4-14 Tutti Fruitti's
held their fifth meeting. Our
Achievement Night will be
held on Dec. 6 in the St.
Columban Church basement
at 7:30 pm.
Tonight we had Rose come
in and talk to us about
dieting. She told us all about
the dangers of not eating
properly and what can happen
to you when you don't cat.
When she left we got into
groups to decide what we are
going to do for Achcivement
Night. Then Anne called us
into the kitchen for some
crackers and apple butter.
